Thanks - was able to replace the indicator on a W246 B180 within 5 minutes - did not even need to remove the mirror. Just line up the mirror so it is parallel with the joint between the black wing assembly and the (white) colour casing. You can then just pull the casing off upwards - leaving the mirror in place. Had to apply a bit of pressure using a trim removal tool on the front side of the assembly - i.e. below the clear indicator plastic - where the white casing meets the black assembly and the white casing just lifted upward clean off.

The top clip is the hardest to undo. I found it better to press the black tab inside it back - instead of pulling the clip with a screwdriver.
