The EQ design language actually looks better on the SUV than the sedan. An EQS was also quite huge in person, I wonder how big this seems in person

We had it in the hangar for an upcoming Inside the MotoMan Studio shoot and parked it next to a 1930 Bentley. It dwarfed the Brit . . .

The horsepower/torque #s are quite impressive! Wow! over 3 tons (U.S.)? That's gonna leave a mark! Yes, the "what if" the 2 speed transmission was made? Even more compelling! This EQS 580? Somewhere around the $148K range?

Hope you get the Rivian R1S to play with at some point. It's $50K less than this car, has more power, more range, and really nice build quality and design (although not an out-and-out luxury car like the EQS 580 SUV). The question would be: Would you save $50K and go with the Rivian, or is the EQS 580 SUV worth the extra money and the hit on range and power?

It's odd that you didn't have pricing for that car given it had already been released. I'll take a guess for it based on what I could see in the video and what I've seen common configurations are EQS580X4 $125,950 Twilight blue free beige nappa leather $1,370 yacht wood $1,515 pinnacle trim w/ AR HUD $7,150 (subtract $900 if just the regular HUD, I couldn't quite tell) -exclusive trim level package = massage and fast heating seats, 4 zone climate, gesture control, fragrance and door illumiated stars -pinnacle trim executive rear seat adds the bigger rear armrest with the tablet and wireless charging, nicer pillows, and additional rear airbags. winter package (heated back seats, steering wheel, and windshield washer system) $950 Acoustic comfort package $1,010 heated windshield $550 HEPA filter $450 Third row w/ staggered wheels on all season tires $1,250 Active Ambient Lighting $590 Illuminated star $500 All season cargo mat $90 Emergency use charging cable $250 Destination and handling $1,150 total = $141,965

Ok… interesting car and I’m sure it drives well. But I wouldn’t pay $130k for this. It looks more like an MPV than SUV. Lacks brawn and presence. I don’t think the styling is Love or Hate, that’s more the BMW (polarizing) approach lol. I’m sure it’ll sell well… but I think I would spend less for R1S in the EV space.

That actually looks better than the EQS Sedan surprisingly, but a Hummer EV it is not on that course. Either way, impressive driving on a course clearly not meant for a Mercedes electric baby buggy.

We're now seeing the birth of 2.8ton electric SUVs. They need huge battery packs to lug them around. Not sure that's where we should be heading in terms of efficiency. Time will tell. The 305 mile EPA range is a bummer, given how expensive this car is. On that score the sedan is the one to go for. Having said that this EQS SUV is a good overall package but just a tad too heavy.

Great review, but average guy even making 100k plus salary would not even try to purchase these. They are sharp but dang not very realistic.

Sad that German cars are losing their German-ness. Mercedes and BMW interiors don’t even have that distinctive leather smell they had in the 80s, 90s and 2000s. A Lexus RX like Mercedes? Sacrilege.
