■ Mercedes has started to bring upgrades to their car in Miami and will continue to do so in Imola in a package that is set to open up a larger operating window for the car, therefore enabling both the drivers and the engineers to extract a greater maximum out of it. As all things stand, Mercedes is looking towards breaking the narrative of being a midfield team and fighting for spots below P5, and according to F1 experts, their season might just start in Imola due to the greatness of the package they have to introduce. But how much of a performance can Mercedes unlock following the great progress that McLaren made, and more importantly, will it be enough to snap the long, dry winless streak?

I think Russell’s comments about the development of the car show a bit of a disconnect between the drivers and engineers. This lines up with Hamilton’s feedback about the car over the past few years. If Mercedes can’t trust their simulations due to correlation issues, they need to do a better job listening to driver feedback. We know Hamilton is already being excluded from development meetings due to his pending move, but I somehow doubt they are actually listening to Russell.

I’m a Ferrari man but I’d like to see the Mercs get near the top too. It’ll make for better racing. The more teams nipping at red bull’s heals the better. Still happy to see McLaren win 1 & delighted for Lando to get his 1st win. He’s been too good for too long without that win.

This upgrade might probably help DR as a merc might fall down below him bumping him up. He can’t seem to do it on his own.

The problem For the Mercedes drivers for the last 2seasons and this is the car doesn't do the same thing all the time the drivers have ro constantly make adjustments. If you watch Lewis car cam footage preground affect he turned the car in and it turned in and went through corner with often no or little extra input on wheel, since Ground affect he is constantly making adjustments. More importantly if the car doesn't do the same thing at the same corner consistently the driver doesn't feel safe going in fast so takes less speed into and out of corner so add that to slower acceleration out of corner as grip issues and total lost time is killing Mercedes lap times. Predictable balanced car = smoth faster lap times as Max at RB will show you.

How many times do Merc upgrades "Change Everything?" Zero. If they get rid of Russell, Toto resigns, and sign Carlos Sainz, then, and only then, will it change everything. They did Hamilton dirty and they're paying for it, and they deserve it to be honest.
