A walkthrough guide of the new MBUX NTG 7 on Mercedes-Benz! This Sat Nav is extremely new and currently found on the new S-Class, EQE, EQS, SL & GLC. This one also features the Hey Mercedes voice assistant but commonly has a portrait screen in the middle of the car.

Thanks for this Nick, you were sitting in my car tight there...🤣 same spec was it a Sclass? Thanks for the tips, I can now get my Screen to go multi layer again... been bugging me past 5 mths how to get it back! Did you also know that the Sat Nav system integrates with What 3 Words too when you do a search for a destination. Keep up the good work buddy...👍😎

Hello Nick, awesome videos. I was wondering if you can do a video about how to deal with different types of car washes, like automatic ones where your vehicle is pulled, do you have to be aware of anything in particular, like disabling electronic brake, putting in netural, turn off the engine, disable any wipers and such? I personally have a Mercedes A class, W177 2019

Hey frin, really sorry not seen those before. I think it’s something to do with the car being in neutral but those types of car washes aren’t that common in the UK so I’m not sure

Just turn off auto wipers on the stalk and put the vehicle in neutral and keep foot off brake and accelerator

Hi Nick, great video as usual! Is there any chance I can reset the voice command. When I did it for the first time I had a sore throat, so now in most cases my voice is not recognized, which is annoying. Thank you.

Hey Tihomir, thank you! Ah most voice assistants these days are adaptive so they’ll learn over time. Sadly there’s no way to reprogram modern voice assistants unless an entire system reset is done.

Hi Nick, great videos mate. I'm in Australia and have latest C Class with MBUX portrait type screen. Was told by dealer that In car office app not available in C Class is that right? If not do you know when it will become available? Wanting to access calendar and emails while in car. Cheers Alfie.

Hi Alfie, I will try to help you. First of all you need to register your car on the Mercedes-Benz portal in Australia. On your profile you will find all active options and options that you can activate or extend for a certain period of time. Some of them are free and some are not, it depends on the package you ordered. I hope you have downloaded the Mercedes me app where you can monitor the overall condition of your car.

Thanks Tihomir, you beat me to it! 😝 Yes sadly it does vary so so I wouldn’t know if In-Car Office is available elsewhere in other countries, but you can check on Mercedes me under Manage Services to see what you have. If you don’t have it, use Apple CarPlay as you can get a calendar on there too which does a similar thing 👍🏼

Hi Nick, I've been looking your videos since I'm oiwner of a Mercedes 4 years ago. Really helpfull to get the best out of these wonderful cars. I just got my brand new EQE, but I"'m struggling to add a second profile as user of the car. So that when my wife use it (yes she is allowed :-) ) she would be able to have her own settings. But pressing on addd a user, just prompt to scan code with mercedes me, while we can only have one user connected with Mercdes me. Would you know how to solve that issue? thanks a lot.

Ah thank you! Glad you enjoy them! Make a Mercedes me account for her and then using the same phone and same new account, scan the QR code 😎 Users of the this new multimedia system need their own Mercedes me account 👍🏼

Great helpful video, thank you. If you were to drive to France and your MBUX is set to English language, can you have the Navigation portion in French as all the French street name are unrecognizable by MBUX set in English? That is the huge benefit of Google maps, the navigation can be in any language while the MBUX system is set in my preferred English language. It’s odd that an international product like MB did not consider that. Many Europeans must travel from one country to another by car. Using an MBUX set up in English while driving in Germany, or Spain or Italy .

Hey thank you! Sadly I’ve not driven a Mercedes in another country (except USA when on holiday) so not sure what it’s like. I guess from a user point of view, if your car’s compatible you could use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto if the in built one doesn’t do exactly what you want it to. If I ever get the chance to do a road trip in my Mercedes I’ll be sure to check it out!

Hey Nick, I have an A35 AMG with NTG7 but I can’t find the ‘suggest alternate route’ option. I saw your video on the Nav for NTG6 and you said should be similar. Please help! I have the speed camera thing now after watching you video. Might be worth noting that they also alert without having a route planned in!

Having had my A-Class it seems like there’s differences between cars with a landscape screen and vertical screen. Sadly not been in my local Mercedes for a little while to check it out but I am considering making a walkthrough guide for the landscape versions vs portrait screens 🤓 Just would need to get my hands on one! Can you enable pre-entry climate control in non hybrid or electric Mercedes vehicles? Or if not start the engine to heat up the car remotely?

No sadly not :( (Not in the UK anyway) The auxiliary heater is the thing that is required to pre-heat a car which is normally only found on electrics and hybrids.

@@npoleary Shame! 😣 Hopefully in the future if they can't equip auxiliary heaters they can allow the engine to be started and allow climate control via the Mercedes Me app with the door locked of course.

Hey Nick, I will drive to Antalya very soon. I created a route from google map from Copenhagen (Denmark) -> Azad (Romania) -> Antalya (Türkiye). Then I shared (send) route to the Mercedes me app. When I open the route from navigation I only see the normal route from Copenhagen to Antalya. Can you please help me how I can solve the issue? Best practice :)

Hey Hakan, I believe Mercedes me app only does one address to another address at a time. Hopefully they’ll add it on the future! I know the car can do multiple ones but you’ll have to do it in the car

Hi Nick, I have an S class 2021 but the zero layer option does not come up. My dealership is saying it did not come with this model however isn't MBUX all about software and updates with over air updates? Will I never be able to get it or do I just need to update?

Hey najeeb, if it’s the new S-Class with NTG 7 (the portrait screen) I haven’t seen one without Zero Layer before. Are you based in the UK? (Sorry hard to tell in the comments section) On the cars I’ve filmed I’ve always seen (I believe) Zero Layer everytime. I don’t think I’ve seen one without it

@@npoleary hey Nick. Thanks for the response. I am actually based in the UAE and yes this is one with portrait and NTG7 (I checked in software info). Strange cause when I hold down the home button it swtiches between two menu screens but not Zero layer.

Hmmm, interesting I know that specs vary massively round the world so this could be why…not sure why it would be different though

Is there a way to give a voice command to avoid tolls? And have it be for just that one destination, that one time.

Not sure on a voice command on avoiding tolls but they send updates to the voice assistant over the Internet so it might do! Sadly there’s not a list as such, it’s similar to Siri or Google or Alexa which is connected to the internet. There’ve been features added since I filmed this video at my local dealership though!

Hello, he's from Poland. I have a question why I can't update maps v9 to v13 on the new W206? Using MercedesMe, I make USB to MAC. And in the car after a while I get the message: Update failed. Map data is damaged. I did the tests on different pen drives, I have no ideas.Please help

Hey wiesiek, really sorry I wouldn’t know. I’ve only produced a tutorial on the previous MBUX as I haven’t had much time with the new one. I would have presumed it’s the same process though… If you’re stuck just contact Mercedes and they’ll be able to help 🤓

Hey Ace, haven’t heard of that before but there’s something similar when listening to music on Apple CarPlay, if you listen to an Apple Music station and an artist comes on you like, you can save it right there and then with a plus symbol. This will then add it to your library 🤓

@@npoleary also another question off topic, the auto start from the app starts engine than when I open door it shuts off engine is there a way to keep engine on? My old car was able to start car with key fob keeping doors locked , and when I opened doors engine still stayed on just had to push the start button. As a safety if you hit brake pedal it would shut car off let’s say someone jumped in and didn’t have key fob tried to steal it? Why doesn’t MB have that feature?

I hate that new console SO much I will not be buying a new Mercedes. Loved the one I’ve got but this new one look s like a technician forgot where they left their iPad. Looks like an after thought rather than an integrated piece of design. Also, in my opinion all info should be displayed as high up, as close to road level, as possible. The lower in the car a display the longer your eye is off the road the more dangerous it is. Fractions of seconds can make a difference. Not a display for me! (Edit: There is growing research to show that the move towards increasing the amount of information and control that is required via touch display consoles is of major concern as far as road safety is concerned. One piece of research, conducted by the TRL, showed that such consoles require considerably more 'eyes off the road' time than using a mobile phone, and are subsequently adding to the cause of road accidents. Consoles should be as high as possible and not require people to look downwards. Bad move Mercedes!)
