A very intelligent approach to teaching. Very good content and well presented. Can I suggest a video discussing the virtues of not over-fuelling too much and how too much fuel can actually slow turbo acceleration, dilute engine oil and anything else you can think of. Again a great video as always.

Suffice to say, the tab that the ALDA comes into contact with is the rack limiter. The more clockwise the tab is allowed to rotate is more fuel, more counter clockwise is less fuel (too far and it doesn't let the engine run). Adjusting bolt contacting the ALDA with the actuator at rest (no boost) will be your minimum fuel adjustment, and adjusting the the opposite side will be your maximum fuel adjustment. Any of the ALDA systems actuate that rack limiter and making adjustments following that principle will get you where you are trying to go. I mostly just described this for folks with some other ALDA if it operates differently. Luke, as always, I love what you do and share! Edit: I came back to read this and thought and my explanation wasn't clear enough.

I'm so glad you have posted this. I've recently got my car back from being worked on (big turbo and pump overhauled) and it's a bit smokier than I'd like. I'll have a go at adjusting the ALDA and see if I can improve it.

heres an idea for that little pump: attach it to a 2jz or RB engine, would be fun to see how much it can push over those platforms, to the rb theres a RD engine that can be used as bottom with tb head, then its a matter of attaching the injectors

I wish you talked more about the OM617 You have a video explaining how little power you can make wirh a 5.5mm pump. Were you ever able to get the rated power (125hp) out of a stock OM617.952? I can't find data about that anywhere. Did Mercedes lie about the power output? Most of them seem to make 80hp at the wheels. Mine makes 100hp at the crank. I have the rack limiter adjusted to the max. I also have trouble making power above 4000Rpm. Peak power should be at 4400Rpm, but my engine power falls off at 4000Rpm. Could it be some pump issue like weak governor springs or do i have valve float or something? I had my 240D dynoed too. It made 55Hp at 3800 and 107nm at 3400. It is very worn out but what i find interesting is that it lacks top end power like the Turbocharged 300d

Hi everyone, i have modified my om606 with a 7.5mm mechanical pump, holset hx35, kangaroos manifold,3' exhaust and it makes around 350hp my problem is, my transmission is still the stock 5 speed automatic and when i floor it, the gearbox jumps out of gear and i have to stop the car completely and start it again. This happens at around 3000-4000 rpm, otherwise if i drive the car slowly and dont rev too high the transmission works well. Does anyone know why? and what i need to do to fix this? Would a transmission reset work? If you would know please tell me

Good morning Luke I emailed your business email. Question for you since you are the Mercedes diesel man. I purchased an om606 that is a non-turbo mechanical injection here in the US but it came out of a 1986 300sd does that make sense. What size elements are typically in these non turbo mechanical 606 injection pumps. I'm putting it in a 81 Camaro with a 5-speed nv3500 transmission obviously I'm going to put a turbo on it. Here we call them barrels at your place you calling elements just curious on the maximum potential horsepower with the stock elements and the pump turned all the way up
