In this video I install an Alternator on my 2004 Mercedes S430. I was able to do this without removing the radiator or radiator fan.

Damn you have the original coolant reservoir, I had replace mine due to leak

I can't get my alternator in I almost broke my fan and everything around it I'm gonna try the way you did you said the holes for the bolts should be facing the fire wall I think ? I sure hope it goes in because I'm about to blow up my car lol thanks for your video it at least so far given me more direction t.y

Good video. I have a 2005 s430 I accidentally turned to light switch to far to were you can turn the parking lights on left or right. Well after that now my battery gets week after the sits for day. I checked the voltage using the ac controller and it shows 13.9 sometimes 14.0 but always 13.9

Excellent instructions and clarification. I'm guessing you could not just change the voltage regulator which has the brushes? I think your engine is the m113 V8. Mine here in Australia is m112 3.7 V6 2004 W220 (actually V220), which I think has a voltage regulator. I like how easy it is to see the voltage as my battery has been replaced at only 80,000 kilometres. Cheers

I had the car stopped for about a month prior to this, and after other repairs it was showing a running voltage of about 10V (and the car was dying fairly quickly after that). It's just easier to swap out the whole unit instead of repairing here in the US. I pay a little more from a brick and mortar store, but get a lifetime warranty to go with it. It is free to me if I ever need to swap out the alternator a second time. I do also have a battery tester and made sure the battery was good before I did this job. It was testing good with my tester and at the Auto Parts store. I got a battery charger to make sure the battery was fully charged before I started the car again after the alternator swap.

HUACHIPATO RETROfit I appreciate your response, thank you. Some advice from a experienced Mercedes mechanic said he was once left (with no prior warning light from the Merc) at the side of the road. All because the brushes had worn out. I'm a bit shocked and surprised by this, I thought the vehicle would have given SOME indication.

Mercedes act very strange when the battery/voltage gets low. I just had it in my driveway - so the inconvenience to me was just a non-running vehicle. But what I saw was slowly all the electrical safety systems start shutting down and the instrument panel starts lighting up. ABS, SRS and all the other lights start lighting up - and what caught my eye was ever the stereo display said voltage was low and it too was shutting down. I imagine if this happened on the road - it would have happened rather quickly. I do wish there was a volt reading that would be a default part of the instrument readings instead of having to set it at start up.
