This. This is what I've been waiting for as a fan of this band since the 2000s. I liked their previous two albums well enough but 11 Dreams, The Hours That Remain, and Architect of Lies were what I considered to be untouchable; pure melodic metal mastery that would unfortunately never be matched after the Sandager brothers left the band. This album, though? It comes pretty fucking close. The melodies and atmospheres are on point. The vocals are incredible (cheers, Rene!) 3:26 and onward sounds SO MUCH like something on AoL! The songs have depth, too, and I can tell the guys really took their time making them. It's an album they should be proud of. Cheers, Mercenary! 💜

Величайше! Это возвращение Mercenary оправдало все годы ожиданий... Одно из самых лучший сочетаний видеоряда и музыки. Красивое блюдо из таланта и творчества. Эмоции зашкаливают, в каждой ноте и каждом кадре глубочайший смысл и подтекст, и оформлено в обертке Говарда Лавкрафта, в мультипликации Любовь Смерть и Роботы... The 10 year wait was long, but it was worth it. After having listened to it continuously since its release, precisely to be able to extract everything it brought, I can safely say that this "Soundtrack for the end times" is the quintessence of this formation, in addition to being able to clearly see that this album goes through the band's entire career. I saw elements of "11 Dreams", "Architect of Lies", "Metamorphosis"... But one thing I couldn't help but notice: René's harsh vocals came much heavier, more serious and dirtier on this album. What a fuck. And what about "Beyond the waves"??? Damn, for me it's the best song on the entire album. Weight, melody, catchy chorus. It's a pearl ending this wonder of global metal. I give this "machine" a score of 9.5/10.0.

This song is good, 6.5/10, which sums up the last four albums. They always have bright spots, but i feel they always feel incomplete and unfinished in some way. I guess I always thought Rene was a bit generic sounding as a singer. Still miss Kral and the Sandagers.......call me an old man dreaming of a past that was cut short. Still praying Firesoul happens.
