What is Exhaust reversion? How does water get into the exhaust ports? Cracked water jacket into exhaust gas ports? Riser gasket?? Thank you for the video. How did you pick a cam that would have the correct overlap and duration to keep the engine from ingesting water into the valves from the water out of the risers?

After viewing the video I’m very interested to know if the knee modification on the exhaust worked out. I have the same engine and the reversion is ruining my heads.

Hi Mark, Sorry for my very late response to you. The boat has been running about 50 hours this season and when back on dry land i pulled the knees to see if i could judge my solution good or bad. I could conclude no signs whatsoever of reverted water. Totally clean all the way. That said, I have been thinking of the reversion problem alot and I am quite certain that the biggest cause of reversion problems is leaking exhaust valves. Since i have completely machined the heads this might be the reason for it not to revert anymore… (?) Anyway, the extended stainless steel knees survived a season without a scratch and i have found no drawbacks of running it this way so they will stay on!

Hi Martin, I’m doing the same thing right now with my 454. I’m interest in what Ecu was used. My stock omc computer is shot and I’m having a hard time finding something to replace it with.

Hi Alex, I’m using the stock Mercruiser ECU. No reprogramming was needed with this cam.
