Great video thanks for posting I have a 2019 mercury 115 hp four stroke its happened twice now the bore sleeve plastic pc of shit always poppsn out replacing it again next weekend

Just found this out myself after doing first maintenance. Called around to be told by shops...if ain't there it's not supposed to 😂 called mercury direct and got the truth. Bought one. Real cheap. We shall see results

Amazing right...literally had the EXACT situation. Called merucry direct for truth. Response I got from local dealers was "if it ain't there...then it ain't need to be there" wtf kind of answer lol 😂

Put one on and wow the engine noise lowered so much as well as it getting on plane faster, lowered the rpm’s from 6200 to 5800 at wot and gained about 9mph.

Thanks for posting this video, just bought a 90 hp command thrust and the guy was saying his was spinning out badly, cavitating. Well he had a 19 pitch prop on there, which I assumed contributed to the issue, but I just pulled it off to install the same spitfire that you purchased, and noticed his ring was there but the tabs were broken. Going to order more right now. Thanks

That sounds exactly what I’ve got going on. Seems like a spun hub but after replacing the prop and 2 hubs still same issue. I’m going to check and see if that sleeve is gone. Thanks, great video

Bought the sleeve, took off the prop and found mine was missing as well. Can’t wait to try it out. What difference did you get after installing the new one?

I’m @ 25 mph now which is good enough for me. Hope this helps.

Just bought a 2018 deck boat 115 command thrust and at 6100 rpms it’s at 31 mph should be closer to 38 everyone tells me. Hub and prop look great but it’s missing the bore sleeve I think this is the fix !

Discovered the exact problem on my 115. Mercury knows about it.. How about a better fix Merc?

Same problem with new prop is blowing out. Same size prop as previous prop with no issues but ran previous prop into some oysters. Plastic ring is present but does not appear to be broke. It does appear to be slightly loose??? What is the final verdict on this ring? Why is this ring so unknown to boaters? Very few videos and none of the few videos say if replacing or adding this ring fixed/stopped the prop blowout?! Whats your final verdict? I did install the new ring and will be water testing 6/3/24.

Well, mine was completely missing and installing the new plastic ring fixed my blowout problem. I would think a loose one would leak a lot of exhaust past it. Let me know how it goes with yours after testing. Huey
