I don't think Catherine tries to attack her when she says Meredith is just like her mother. She's worked with Meredith long enough to know that Meredith and Ellis share the same stubbornness to act on what they believe is right. To me, it sounds like frustration because Catherine knows she can't change Meredith's mind. However, I do think Catherine is vengeful enough to get some sort of revenge against Meredith. Even though Meredith is a world-renowned surgeon and is well-connected, it's probably nowhere near the influence Catherine has as the chairwoman of the Fox Foundation. Depending on how well received Meredith's abstract is, I think it's possible that Catherine will indirectly try to make it difficult for Meredith to continue her research. Even though Meredith will ultimately win if her theory is proven correct, I think Catherine will try to stick it to Meredith in some shape or form.

She is attacking her the same way Derek did when he said the same when meredith decided not to move to DC. Hopefully yang comes and helps with funds to continue with the research

Just have Ellen/meredith on a one sided phone to 'christina' call or a chain email back and forth. show the back of a person with a similar profile to Sandra's doesn't need to show her face just a no dialog scene showing her name on the desk and the back of a woman transferring money. Don't need the actress to have the character involved, slight of hand and visual manipulations

THIS!! 1000000% THIS!!! Catherine's ego will cost her a hell of a lot. Her little power trip cost the hospital at least four good doctors, two of whom now have a major medical breakthrough attached to their names. I'm going to be very interested to see the downfall of Catherine next season. Also, I feel like she knows Ellis is the true love of Richard's life and she is jealous. She's competing with not only Meredith, who Richard views as a daughter, but also the ghost of Ellis. It's why she was so frosty to Maggie who is tangible proof Ellis and Richard's affair

Catherine probably won't go after Meredith directly, but depending on how much interest Meredith's and Amelia's abstract generates, it is possible she will use her connections and indirectly make it difficult for Meredith to continue her research. Also, Catherine did see value in Meredith's research and was willing to look into it further, but she wasn't willing to let Meredith and Amelia head the research team anymore. Let's not forget Meredith committed insubordination by secretly researching something that Catherine explicitly told her not to do. If Catherine hadn't found out what Meredith was doing when she discovered that Teddy was secretly funding Meredith's work with discretionary funds, Meredith would've posted the abstract as part of the Fox Foundation, which Catherine would not allow, fearing potential blowback. Catherine needed to let Meredith know that her insubordination had consequences, so she gave Meredith a choice. Either give up the research to Koracick and allow Amelia and Teddy to keep their jobs or refuse to give up the research and all three would be fired.

The way my love for Catherine paused at the finale of last season then diminished this season is unreal. Like we love having a black woman as boss but damn girl 😭 u making it harder for us with that ego.

@@misslegacyatheart Doesn't Meredith still own part of the hospital?If she does maybe she gives her shares of the hospital to Richard or Bailey like Christina did with her shares when she gave them to Alex when she left and that way she gets a last laugh on Catherine.

Jackson is running the other hospitals as they're all over the country. Since Jesse Williams has left the show and Catherine lives with Richard in Seattle it would make more sense for her to keep an eye on Grey Sloan, notice how she isn't in every episode just pops in when she's needed. Also it's not about who has more power she still owns the foundation so has the final say Jackson was only ever managing it but will obviously receive benefits/funds as he's her son.

After listening to Meredith and Amelia, she saw the value of their research and was willing to continue it, provided that Meredith and Amelia agreed to turn over their research to Dr. Koracick as punishment for insubordination. Catherine is furious because 1) Meredith posted her abstract without telling Catherine beforehand. 2) Meredith didn't go to Catherine first about resigning. She told Richard first and went to Catherine as a formality.

She was going to hide it, and give it to korasik and let him take the glory of what he didn't work for , catherine is playing politics like his dad was doing controling people, Mer is doing what will benefit her and other families, while Catherine is playing power and politics.

This is because Meredith's theory contradicts what many doctors have theorized about Alzheimer's, which could spark a potential negative backlash (reputationally and financially) against the Fox Foundation because Meredith works for the Foundation. That's why, after hearing Meredith's reasons for disobeying her and seeing the interesting results Meredith and Amelia had gathered, she was willing to spend more resources on their research under certain conditions (Meredith and Amelia could no longer work on the research and must turn all their research to Dr. Koracick. In exchange, Meredith, Amelia, and Teddy would keep their jobs. [Basically punishment for Meredith's insubordination]) However, Catherine's angry at Meredith because, to her, Meredith just sucker-punched her. Meredith didn't give her a heads-up about releasing her abstract to the public before she uploaded it on the NIH website. Meredith didn't come to her first about resigning. She simply told Richard and went to Catherine as a formality.

It's a simple case of her siding with Big Pharma and wanting to suppress the research to please her shareholders..in essence everything that is wrong with the US Medical System
