I am venetian I came to merewoth castle as house help. the owners were Ronald and Anne Tree. I spent two years. 1956/1957 I came to learn english. Great emotion to see this place. Unforgetteble memories..

I moved to Mereworth last year and wondered wherebthe castle is..I would live to visit,hopefully one day could be opened to the public, beautiful, a hidden gem

I am fairly local and it was completely renovated inside some years back. I went there a few times in the 60's when it regularly opened for garden fetes.

Its Magnificent. Any idea what the scaffolding is for, the roof maybe?

It looks as though the scaffolding is for restoration work on the walls. Early films that feature this building show the outside being in much better condition.

I would be interested to know if you received an intimidating message from Callum in London and what your answer was. I had a similar video which I removed after his message via FB. I was flying much higher as I stick to CAA rules. Nice video though if not too low and invasive.

No horrible messages - did run into security guard on site though (not sure if that's the guy you mean; slight build, balding, angry).

Also - I am VERY mindful of how/where I fly. When it comes to actual people and privacy - or wildlife - I avoid or stay wide. With this abandoned and derelict building I decided to capture this for prosperity and the world. Nothing lasts forever....

@@PressTheRedDot Mereworth Castle is certainly not abandoned, it’s owned by the guy that owns Highland Spring water. I had an intimidating mail advising me to take it off KZfaq and as they use high velocity rifles in the grounds it could be dangerous to enter the land which I was not.

@@johngilham Apologies - got mixed up with Hamilton Palace - which certainly is abandoned. Yeah, this one was a flight from the road outside - made after a conversation with a well versed local old lady who said that it's been that way for as long as she can remember (post James Bond days)
