I was in USA for 22 years bro, you should have tried to speak the supervisor of the company, and yes if u record them and show your rights, then they will use every rights within the boundaries of law to put u down, they will use every clause of cancellation which you dont know about, which is on the agreement copy in the fine thin unreadable print. As for the guy at the Europcar rental counter, I would've made sure his supervisor knows of his unprofessional & rude behavior. Yes! I say rude because you had already made a reservation and they violated it! Kudos to you and your family!

Sorry to see this you went through this absurd situation, the way you handled the matter is absolutely smooth, basically there are some laws with these agencies that you can really shake their businesse and completely shutdown their store and police they will not help you till you tell them your rights. Police officer with beard he was absolutely outstanding that he has done his best to handle the situation.

I worked for budget car rental few years ago, they love scamming the public, especially if you don't check for damages on the vehicle when you take the vehicle, they will charge you for damages.

This is not the right way to treat the customer and it’s companyresponsibility to get them a 4 door comfortable vehicle to travel,they have to either pay hefty amount for another car or get the compensation..

Sensible thing to do would be to pay the extra 10 pounds and take the bigger car for now, and pursue the case later with the company. You've become so accustomed to customer service that you've started demanding a compensation. If they don't want to serve you they have every right to do so. You basically ruined your plan because of your stubbornness.

@@mojomahojo8253 its different for our local people, even common people are hospitable and give tourist extra attention, our people are certainly driven by some decency and Indian peoples nature is different while regarding the the riksha wala, dukaan wala, and ghode aur camel ride wala even beg /(bug)/ them to take their service is because their lively hood depends on it. not to ignore the fact that there are scammers in India but at least you know their tactics here you don't even know when you will be scammed.

TD, he is asking you to pay 10 pounds per day extra for the car you booked. Even if your UK trip is 14 days, it is only 140 pounds. In my view this coercive deal , was still worth it, considering that options available such as Mataji health condition, taking buses irregular & expensive bus service, missed accommodation at Oxford etc. I understand the emotions you went through but on the whole you lose your peace of mind & convenience!

While this was poor customer service on the part of Europcar, they did offer you an alternative and then a refund. There was no point in wasting your time with them further. You could have taken your family via an alternative transport route then emailed the company about the poor experience you had at that outlet. They would have done something to compensate you. You needlessly prolonged yours and your families' suffering.

It was clear, he didn't want to cooperate for no reason, just call the corporates and name the guy right infront before calling the cops. Cops don't deal with this kind of situation. They fear more for their jobs than the cops so directly call the customer service that would have scared the hell out of him.

Instead of ringing the police, you should ring the company head office and they will sort the employee out.
