Marina beach in Chennai is the longest urban beach in the world. Cox bazar beach in Bangladesh is 120 km long. I don't think the entire 120 km stretch is part of urban development to call it the longest urban beach.

Pls address the city as Madras whenever talking about its history. Madras - derived from 'Madrasapattinam' a tamil fishing village which thrived centuries before the entry of British is not an European or English name. It's a tamil name while chennai derived from 'chennapattnam' is actually a telugu name, chenna means good or fair in telugu while there is no word called chennai in tamil lexicon. Just as Kovai used for Coimbatore, Nellai for Tirunelveli, Madras from 'Madrasapattinam' is just an abbreviation & not an European name. The city name should be reversed back to Madras & correct the historical mistake. The name 'Madras' is dying & fading away with year after year as most of us reffering it as chennai. Kindly start an online platform to bring people together for the name change. #backtoMadras.
