Nice rev. I can contribute to this in terms of efficiency when we are pedaling, since I had bought Reacto 400 recently. For me, the biggest advantage of Reacto over Scultura is aerodynamics, and this make the difference when you are on the bike, that means, saving watts and more speed. I can say that Reacto is truly stiff, tough and responsive, and when you are going at high speed this bike make you smile. So...what's advantage of Scultura over Reacto? Scultura take advantaje over Reacto in steep slopes. Only in that situation, and this is because of stock wheels Reacto has in their cheapest models. The wheels of the Reacto 400 are Merida Aero 30 and are 2.2 kg weight. High models of Reacto have Merida Superaero 38, with 2.4 kg, and top end of this bike are set with lightest wheels as Fulcrum Racing 4 or FSA Trimax 35. The wheels are a weak point of Reacto in their modest models. BUT only in steep slopes. That means, once the bike with 2.2 kg wheels take high speed it is really easy to maintain it because of the inertia of the wheels, but if we are in a place when there are uphills and downhills continuously I recommend to upgrade the bike with another set of wheels like Fulcrum Racing 4 or Campagnolo Scirocco. That upgrade can beat the Scultura in steep slopes too. Recomendation: if you are a fanatic of speed like me, and you want a great bike with a "low" budget, I recommend you to take Reacto 400 (1400-1500 €), upgrade it wheels if you want to face steeps easily to Campagnolo Scirocco or Fulcrum Racing 4 (you can get it in 250-280 € shopping on internet), and you will have a bike faster than Scultura, as good as Scultura en steeps, and cheapest than the next model of Reacto with more performance. Another advantage of Reacto over Scultura is that the geometry of the first one allow you to add and aero bars on it. Thats is an amazing gadget you can put in this bike as there is nothing more aero than aero position. I recommend Deda Elementi Parabolica bars (60-65 € shopping on internet). That was my bet: Reacto 400 and upgrade the wheels set with Campagnolo Scirocco. And if you want to go beyond add Deda Elementi Parabolica bars, ISM saddle (I love it!!!!) and put the water bottle behind the saddle in order to not to wreck the aerodynamics efficiency of the frame. That combination will make you the beast of the road.

Even if you're not a beginner than the new Sora or Tiagra is more then fine. I have the new Sora and Ultegra but it's both very smooth and nice.

Hello, i am a satisfied Reacto 300 owner. My question is which is the difference between Reacto's and Scultura (300 or 400) hubs? Thank you!

Hi there, great review. I ride the Scultura 4000 2016 full carbon model (green/white accents, rim brakes) which is a great bike. I am trying to find out the maximum clearance on the forks which I think are the CF2 as I am about to replace my tyres. The bike came with 23mm but over the years I have replaced with 25mm and am now thinking of 28mm for more comfort but I cannot seem to find empirical information on whether their would be enough clearance for 28mm tyres. Just looking at the remaining clearance with 25mm fitted I think 28mm will fit but want to be sure before I spend money on wider tyres. Do you know the answer to this question on clearance or know where I can find out the correct answer? Thanks, Michael

i now ride a pretty nice bulls roadbike. matt black with nice 5mm white rims and tt bars. My next bike this or next year will be the reacto 400. What a nice looking and handling bike that is. 105 is good enough for the flats and tiny hulls in Holland and the weight is perfect also for mainly flats roads. Im in love🖒🖒🖒

Reacto is superb in flat roads because it has a higher momentum while scultura is more on ascending uphill roads

Hi @SickBiker, just came across this video and it has helped me with more information, so thanks, but I wondered if you (or any of your subscribers) have any further advice that would help me with choosing between a Scultura or Reacto. I currently have a Scultura 4000 (2018) and want to upgrade to a bike with electronic groupset, disc brakes, and possibly carbon wheels so I don't have to upgrade the wheels later. I have a 2021 Scultura Force-Edition Black/Bronze on hold at a local bike shop but am having second thoughts if I should have gone for a Reacto instead. My local rides are not all flat there are plenty of climbs (short and long), I am a lightweight rider 66kg, and my rides average 25-30km/h. Thanks

I am looking at the 8000-E disc. The difference in weight is only 165 grams more for the Reacto, which would be unnoticeable. Price is $1000 more for the Reacto though. What are you thoughts? I really like the look of the Reacto, but is the extra cost worth it in your opinion? The dimensions are pretty much identical too. Thanks.

I bought the scultura 500. Scultura are cheaper and worth the price. For Reacto, you will pay more only for the aero frame. If you buy scultura, you can use the money you save for a shimano brakes, clipless pedal, cycling shoes, and wheels. The stock brakes really is a must upgrade for the bike, it lacks that bite. But overall, all other parts are great.

Iam deciding between these too , and dont really know which one to choose . I was riding Kellys Arc30 doing like 50 km per day with an average 27km/h and want to upgrade it to a higher end Merida . Want a comfy bike but still to go around 30 km/h any advice ? :) thank you

I ride at that avg speed too I am thinking of getting the reacto 400 cause I live in a flat area and I think aero dynamics would be more of an advantage for me plus I am a pretty heavy rider like 220+lbs so I want to go for a tough and stiff frame. I don't know if its only with me but I like my bikes stiffer it makes me go faster mentally 😊

Great Video man! I'm planning to buy the Merida Scultura team ( Dura ace ) 2016 version. Im getting an amazing deal on it. My only concern is how durable is the bike. Is it going to be very fragile and how would it do for Long distance riding.

+udayan walvekar O my goodness, Dura-Ace! wouldn't be concerned about the durability of the bike. It will be just as strong as the carbon bike can be.

I want to build a climbing machine. How can I change my drivetrain to be able to utilise a 36 tooth rear cassette? I already have 50-34 front. Do I need a 105 rd long cage and a mountain bike cassette???? Please help.
@cannondany
@cannondany 8 жыл бұрын
+Rob Bastien Hi Rob, the cassette - derailleur compatibility can be of an issue here. I don't know what groupset do you habe, but even within the road components the pull ratio can be different (5800, 6800, 9000 are not compatible with other groupsets). If you're using a 10s system, probably the 9s MTB derailleur would work. I'm not very experienced in such change, so I would just go for a triple crankset with a long cage road rear derailleur.

@Syaricool

Woof Woof if im not wrong just look at the number for example if it is 400 or 500, it is aluminium but if it is 4000 or 5000 it is carbon
