I can't believe I'm only *now* making a Merlin video. I've been a fan of this show since its release and I have kept coming back to it for over ten years.
I just really wanted to explore the way Arthur and Merlin forgave each other. I wanted to show the silent, unconditional understanding Merlin provided Arthur, in regards to magic, despite how it must have killed him inside and that he believed in Arthur's Albion. But also Merlin's struggle with his fear of rejection/his fear of being yet another person to hurt Arthur (and the irony of that). And I wanted to show Arthur's hurt from Merlin's secrets but his ultimate faith in Merlin himself; because it was never *just* about the magic, not at the root.
I just love them and their bond. They should've had more time ;^;
[Also, just because it's important to me: I really wanted to include a line from Arthur, doubting the "evil" of magic and his father's persecution of it (for e.g. "Perhaps my father was wrong. Perhaps the old ways aren't as evil as we thought." from 5x05) but I could *literally* find no sensible place to put it. I agonised over these 5 seconds of dialogue for days lmao. Anyway. Better luck next time.]
