Join us for a bird identification trivia game, focused on birds you might find during the 2024 Great Backyard Bird Count! Led by Alli Smith from Cornell Lab of Ornithology, hosted by Audubon chapters in Westchester County, New York. The Merlin Bird ID app, developed by the Cornell Lab and powered by machine learning, will be put to the test. Can the app outperform an experienced birder from our area, Kyle Bardwell (a regional eBird reviewer) and our Zoom audience? Based photo and sound ID, come see who accurately identifies the most bird species. This was an interactive game, so watch the audience play! Throughout the game in this video, explore how Merlin “decides” on an ID and our Expert Birder will also share his advice on how to identify tricky birds based on calls and appearance. This was a Zoom program hosted February 9, 2024 by Saw Mill River Audubon (www.sawmillriveraudubon.org) and co-sponsored by the other four Westchester County, New York Audubon chapters: Bedford Audubon, Bronx RIver Sound Shore Audubon, Central Westchester Audubon and Hudson River Audubon. Audubon connects people with birds, other wildlife and their habitats!
