Tipping modmakers would be nice, but realistically any one person uses hundreds of mods, so it's unrealistic for someone to dig out their wallet 100 times voluntarily to give. I would see many more people bringing out their wallet for the major contributions, or to try to support people who are promising something good coming. Like Enaisiaon having their Patreon made sense, because mods from him completely changed the game to be funner, and he just kept making stuff. Modlist authors also make sense, as they're constantly working to keep lists installable and improve them, as well as provide "customer support". Not only does it give us a bad name, it’s also incredibly disheartening. I’ve been doing this for about four years now, publicly and freely sharing everything I can and doing support for about eight hours a day, and it’s incredibly hard. Seeing someone swoop in, do less than the bare minimum, and make over a thousand bucks a month selling other people’s work…it makes me want to stop. It makes me think that the general public does not value time or effort or honesty. And given the fact that support is…well, to support bugs and fix them, it’s hard to only see negative comments for so many years. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Thank you for the video. Derek has been on my radar for a while but I’ve been too physically and emotionally drained to do anything about it. Mine is ready for replacement, I'll be sure to (very gratefully) use your discount code. Great exposé, Mern! Glad to see that DerekDiablo is getting some public coverage on his extremely predatory behavior. Have you contacted PureDark yet to tell him that he's knowingly providing his paid content without permission? I think PureDark could actually seek legal action against him due to his license.

Man, PureDark is no saint either. Drama also surrounds him.

Should do a video on SkyrimGTX as well. That guy was a huge scammer too.

I remember watching one of his modlist videos which had motivated me to go back to Skyrim and mod again (You too Mern). Never bothered to click his links though, I’m not surprised since this been a age of scamming people so it was only a matter a time before it reached to the Skyrim community just sucks to see it did already.

Woah this character preset that Umbrael is using rn is so realistic it even has Mern's voice in it. What's your modlist for this?

Derek gone fucked up with cabbage. Messed with the wrong vegetable.

A lot of his mod lists don't even work and mods listed aren't even showcased.

I don't even know how to use synthesis 😭. It looks super confusing and the only thing i need it for is immersive equipment displaysfor the left side sheaths. Also I stayed for the drama but subscribed because you're funny and pretty hot! Also the drama is so fun sometimes.

Gotta admit I've let myself lure in to subscribe to his patreon by his false promises and flashy presentation of his modlists. Thank you Mern for making this video and clearing thinks up for other people, especially for those new to the modding community.

Wow you look exactly as I imagined you would lol. Thanks Mern for all the fantastic content over the years, I'm going to get a new PC and get back into modding again soon.

There are a lot more concerning issues with Derek, to be honest. Like the fact that he included SexLab and full nudity mods in "I Remastered Skyrim's First Person Combat | 2023 Overhaul" and the video isn't even age restricted. And the fact that he spent 4 minutes showing off the "Skyrim - Director's Edition Character Creation | 2023 Showcase [4K]" which is just him throwing in RaceMenu by expired6978 and clicking through the menu for a bit with a *fake* thumbnail, and then just running around for the rest of the video casting spells at the floor and walking menacingly through Rorikstead (at which point his game crashes, better leave that take in!). Also, the performance in several of his videos is *terrible* despite him claiming to have a 3090 - in some cases I saw framerates *in his recordings* as low as 6 fps. I think he's mad about being banned from Wabbajack, as well, as in the Golden Wind trailer he has an arrow pointing at Uthgerd the Unbroken labeling her as "Halgari" and then immediately showing his character beating the shit out of her. Very hinged fellow. The sheer number of broken mods and the shit "installation instructions" are just icing on the cake. Download something better and save your money, there are plenty of FREE lists on Wabbajack that will give you better performance, stability, and gameplay experience.

Honestly this entire scenario is abysmal. The moment I went to his Patreon and saw that the modlist had to be paid for, I turned back. I’m glad I didn’t subscribe to him. Congrats on getting out of Umbrael’s basement bro!

I do not believe in so-called intellectual property. Once you publish something, it is, by nature, part of the public domain. However, that fact still does not allow a person to take credit for someone else's work. Derek sounds like a complete scam artist trying to make money while doing nothing to add any value to his "work."
@Alex-mu8ud11 ай бұрын
it seems so scummy to Paywall a list of mods that are public, and they're not even his to begin with. It also is embarrassing that he wasn't able to get a Wabbajack list made lol

Damn funny coming from a discord that banned me because I dared to tell someone that there was a site reuploading all banned mods, without any warning message or request to discuss it.
