The actor in the theater screen is MG Ramachandran aka MGR. He is the former chief minister of Tamilnadu and a huge movie star in the 60s and 70s. Vijay's movies have tons of references to MGR

I saw this movie in Kannada dubbed version. I must say this is one of best movies of recent times. It may be inspired from Appu Raja still it's a great movie. Vijay Thalapathy is heart and soul of the movie.. After watching this movie I saw all . Sarkar and Bigil also. Love from Karnataka.
