You have to plug your phone with USB cable in and then you will set up Android Auto. I just did mine and I had no Icon .....after I connected my phone icon was bottom right...Android Auto. I am so super happy now THX

Just bear in mind it's got to be an "evolution" from a 2018 onwards car and you will need a GPS antenna ( link to antenna in description).

If you enable Apple Car Play I do not see any reason it would not work on your iphone and similarly if you have the latest version of Android Auto installed on your Samsung it should work. Let me know how you get on.

What the guy who made this video didn’t seem to realise was the dealer was almost correct… most cars made in 2018 had the media nav evolution 1 hardware (mn2) which is a windows based head unit and has software updates going up until 9.x.x. Some cars made later in the year featured the media nav evolution 2 (mn3). Despite the software looking the same it’s completely different. It’s running Linux not windows, and has a much better screen and microphone. Furthermore it supports android auto and Apple CarPlay. If you can find a seller online though the units are just plug and play so you can easily swap a newer unit in without needing a dealer to fit it

nope, you need software 1.0.x.x and thats only available on media nav 3 from 2019 onwards

nope, thats the older media nav which is based on Windows CE and not Linux. you need to have software 1.0.x.x for it to have AA or CP.

I tried to with mine but I only managed to update the system to version 9.1.3. I think our head units are too old :/ I have read about other things you can do with ours tho, like changing backgrounds etc. but I haven't been able to remember where I found that info.

Thats very helpful, just got a Renault Trafic which should have AA and CP but not there. Software all updated to 9.1 hence my unit must be a Evolution 2. I will stop wasting time and just continue using google maps on the phone.🙂

I don't think I can help but I did have a similar issue with Android Auto on the phone. unInistalled it and reinstalled and all was OK.

micom will be greyed out if you save the "mcmtest_activate.ini" file as a text file. Make sure the file extension is .ini NOT .txt

Sorry, I never looked any further than the codes I needed for mine. I seem to remember a foreign Internet thread had a load of codes but just can't remember where I saw it. Thanks for your comments.

you can't. you will need a headunit from 2019 with 1.0.x.x

I don't think so as I believe the "Evolution" only started being supplied after 2015, well in the UK in Dacia. Im not sure if Renault cars were ahead in the technology.

Versions x.x.x are Windows based so they won't support AA or carplay. And versions 1.0.x.x and upwards are Linux based so they will work.

All I know is that it came out of a 2018 car and I had to update the software. As the unit had never been registered I had the free map update as well.

@@mervtaylor I have a 68 plate traffic, and have a similar unit, mine does not have the option for carplay or android auto, my software is 9.1.3, it's never been updated, where did you get the firmware from and was there a guide

@@acelectricalsecurity The firmware update was from the Dacia site. I'm sure Renault would be the same. If the unit has never been updated you should get 1 free map update and firmware update. Hi! I think that the codes are 2383 and 3748, and the file name should be "mcmtest_activate_4medianav", unfortunately I personally did not find android auto from the Micom settings on my medianav evolution (2nd gen Duster, but from the first half of 2018) :-/

@@Aska222 Difficult to diagnose your issue, but check the lead is a data lead, not just a charging lead.

Download the latest version of the toolkit then follow the instructions on the computer it should work.

Now I’m confused because I didn’t download anything I just made the USB key and then pressed the screen 5 places and inputted the code have I missed something thanks

@@AF-qd9bk the download part is to update the medianav software version, but it looks like there are 2 models out there, the early 2018 version only takes upto v 9.1.3

That is odd, it must be an old unit, not an Evolution.

@@ruthphillips7407 if it's greyed out that means you put the wrong thing on the USB , what software are you on , I did get to the menu but they just wasn't on it.

@@MrStevenhogg i got to the micon screen but no AA, i think it needs to be version V on the nextr hardware model box, and there is not way to upgrade from V9 to V1 so i might give up :(

This only works with Media Nav Evolution, supplied in the UK during 2018.
