Thanks for sharing. I used to live at Canford Heath and quite often used to go for a Sunday drive around Bovington and Wareham. In Western Australia now.👍

Good video. Never heard the story of Lawrence and the Rising sun before, always read and believed that TE was tee total. But who knows!

There are so many myths surrounding Lawrence, probably because he was such a private man.

Strange, I've been along Cloud's Hill Road, & - as u say - there's no apparent dip or obstruction of view in it that could have caused Lawrence to fail to see kids on bicycles, it's a long stretch of straight flat road with a view well ahead. Maybe the kids didn't see him coming & crossed into his lane at the last second, or the council post-accident carried out roadworks to remove a dip that was previously there? Nice film, thx.

I can only assume that over the years the dip has been eroded by several resurfaces of the road perhaps.

@@mervtaylor Since I posted I've checked. The American Army re-modeled the road for its tanks in 1944 in WW2 creating the flat surface today. Having watched an L. doc which shows the road at the time of the crash it had multiple deep dips close together along its course. Riding along that at speed on a bike must have felt like being on a roller-coaster. L was being foolhardy throttling it along a road like that with oncoming traffic partially obscured from view
