1999... just unreal. Its hard to believe they had already created something so unique so early on!!! Also, this is the first live performance of Concatenation i have ever seen!!!!

Yessir! This was also the first year that I got to see them when they were opening for Slayer. Needless to say, they tore my face off. BTW, I was just checking one of your videos out earlier. Nice work, my man!

The opening of Concatenation kills me every time. How Fred and (I think it's) Gustaf start spinning and how Jens suddenly runs away, only to appear again looking excited. It also appears to be Mårten playing the lead--which he suddenly remembers he has to play the third time the intro groove loops around.

Lmao
@dogwoof5391 Жыл бұрын
no i dont think its maarten on lead, based on his position on the fret board, he's always playing by nut. the intro lead is played around the 8th fret, and requires a pedal to be pressed as well. and fredrik played the solo with that same tone. it seems more plausible to me that fredrik just wanted to play the rhythm before switching to the lead :)

This was a great festival. My ears are still ringing from Meshuggah, Cryptopsy, Nile and S.O.D. 🤘
@gillesiachelini20827 ай бұрын
They were great bands, but the festival itself was shit. Horrible parking and transfer. Totally un-organized. People paid back by setting all the dixies on fire. Eindhoven never happened again after that. Meshuggah played somewhere around noon. I think "Loudness" was before (or right after them). And: The sound was exactly like that. Not that people think, its related to the recording itself.

Opening a festival set with Concatenation in 1999 is maniacal. Back in the early '00s, people didn't know what to make of this band. They didn't make sense and didn't sound like anyone else. It's like a band from 2075 time traveled back to the turn of the 21st century to share their cosmic metal.

I've been looking for Concatenation live too! i've been listening to Meshuggah years back but recently i became so hooked up when i reviewed them back when i was looking for influence in my recent song writing shenanigans, i understand them better now, i hope they write songs that are in line with Chaosphere grindy with rapid double bass drum, i noticed albums came after aRE more single hit bass drum. happy to read a fellow Concatination live explorer. hehehe
@grizzlywhisker Жыл бұрын
I first saw them in 2002 when they were touring to promote the Nothing album, they still played a lot of this material at that point. I miss the old school stuff like Gods of Rapture. I really like their new material, but they just had a very different sound in the earlier years.

@arcadeshift50712 күн бұрын
It'd be a lot slower. As they've aged, they've slowed the BPM for most of their songs. They could just play the remix (slowed) version from 'Rare Trax' live and it'd sound badass.

I'm proud to say that I started listening to Meshuggan in 1996. A friend worked in a small cassette and CD store in a town in the southeast of Serbia. He was with the owner in Belgrade to buy CDs for the shop and he bought "Destroy Erase Improve". Around the same time, there was a show with metal music on the 3rd RTS channel, and there we saw the video for "Catatonic Transfixion". Well, I got confused, I have to admit, but I didn't expect "Chaopshere" at all, which blew me into a million pieces... The album that I listened to for a year (only that album, nothing else!!!), changed me, my view of the world, my view of life, the way I think, everything. Today, honestly, I listened to the last two albums a couple of times. The same thing happened to me with Metallica and the "Black" album, when I listened to Metallica some people laughed, so they started listening to them when that damn album came out and ruined everything. I have the feeling that Meshuggah become a circus attraction, people go to see them as if they are some rare animals, they go to see crazy lights, a band that stands in one place for an hour and 20 minutes, everything is perfect and it kills me. I miss Meshuggah and their "bodybanging", I understand that they are over 50 years old and I'm not asking them to go crazy like in this video, but they can at least move a little from one place. I was ready for the band in general, the others didn't understand them. Today they have become mainstream...

@tasossimmons8274 Жыл бұрын
Because most of em are nerds when it comes to any genre of metal, and do not put aside that some of the songs are too [delicate and complex] *for the output on the this system; NMCC was first timer imagine the absorption upon this crowd- they shrunk. * Experience indoors is whole another level- big difference! Gods of rapture fredericks solo theres an easter egg there; definitely.
