Sunaadam Trust Presents ‘KAVIYIN METTUM SORKATTUM' , a konnakkol tribute to the great poet, thinker and philosopher Mahakavi Subramania Bharatiyar.
Mahakavi Subramania Bharatiyar was born on 11th December 1882 at Ettayapuram. When he was around 12, he was given the title 'Bharati', meaning the one blessed by the goddess of learning. In the short yet eventful life that he lived, Bharatiyar made huge contributions to language, literature, poetry and the nationalist movement. At 39, Bharatiyar passed away on 11 September 1921.
The konnakkol piece weaves together Bharatiyar's poetry and the numbers 11, 12, 3 and 9 - all drawn from important dates / numbers in Bharatiyar's life.
