Between the ages of 12 and 14 he wrote 13 string symphonies. He wrote his first full symphony at the age of 15. Died at the young age of 38 from stroke.

This is the first performance of this piece that I have come across where the performer does not rush throughout. Pascale really brings out Mendelssohn's sweet and gentle charm here!

This piece reminds me of the overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream, which Mendelssohn composed at 17.

I learned this piece when I was 15 years old. 34 year after I found it on KZfaq, that was great because is not really popular as other. And I can said that this is my favorite interpretation from others that I listen on KZfaq, is close to my interpretation, I like that little pauses and slowdown, add a bit of drama and honor to the name "Caprichoso" to this beautiful piece. ❤❤ I love it.

That is great, I am glad you enjoy it. I read that Mendelssohn composed it when he was 15, and you learnt it first when you were 15! I am starting to work on this piece now, and I think it sounds more difficult than it is, but it will still be a lot of work at my level.

For a second it reminded me of the romanza from chopin's first piano concerto. Mainly because they are both in e major I think.

@@pianoandsheets5607 Its actually not that hard. A lot of repetition so youll end up having to learn basically just half of the piece. Right hand in the b section could be tricky but nothing a little practice cant fix. Teaches a little fundamentals too

@@skrz8 it's musically extremely hard and to keep up with the tempo without it sounding tacky, not to even mention the technical difficulties of arpeggios and repetetive doubles in right hand and double octave jumps in left that follow the whole piece are crazy hard to master. There are a lot of little things you have to keep in mind while making it musically interesting for the audience. I defenitely failed the first time i performed this but i will learn it again one day and perfect every last bit of this piece.

I played some of this years ago. I should probably learn the whole thing. What's the excuse? This song always reminded me of Liszt. Something about the chord choices. It just sounds like him.

Good performance although it's a bit free in terms of loyalty to the notation: watch out every staccato.
