I just watched awhile back a video on Airplane engines where the guy said inverted engines don't work well in cars because they have most of the important features toward the bottom. That makes them hard to work on. In an airplane, you are able to work on it from the bottom up. I looked for it in my history but can't seem to find it.
@marcox4358
@marcox4358 4 жыл бұрын
Kirk Tirakian most engines nowadays are do complicated that you have to pull the engine out to change anything important, so I guess lifting the car or putting it into a service trench is not a bad trade for an inverted V engine.

I saw on another KZfaq a long time ago (sorry, don't remember which one) that there is/was a very small gas engine that turned a big flywheel/weight thing. That makes the turbine-sounding uh, sound. Then the pilot engages some kind of a clutch and the centrifugal force turns over the engine. I think the small engine is started by a battery, and the controls are on the right-hand side of the pilot. Similar method to how a lot of the older big, Caterpillar engines were started. Of course, I might be wrong.

+Greg There are reputable aircraft brokers that sell restored aircraft and wrecks to prospective clients. Not many Bf-109s left around that are not already claimed by museums and projects.

True story: I got an ad selling this exact aeroplane a year or two ago, it was either 8 or 12 million €. Almost fell on the floor laughing. Google really knows what I like 😁

@@griffn14 Yes, I read that Hangar10 did offer the G-12 for sale. And rumored that EADS / Messerschmitt Museum might have bought it, but I have no current info to confirm that. Also, sometimes owners put these planes on the market just as a fishing exercise to see what prices they can get.

There is a "sold" on one site which had an ad for the G-12, I don't know much about warbird market to be sure though. Maybe they were just checking how much would it go for as you say.

Take it easy, friend...that's normal with youtubers...No matter how good the vid can be, no matter the overwhelming amount of thumbs up it may get, you'll ALWAYS see around 10% of weirdos who are never satisfied with anything ! Just ignore them and enjoy the vid. We humans are very strange beings...

+Roger Hockemier About 500 Bf-109G-12 trainers were converted from existing aircraft during WW2. i.pinimg.com/736x/aa/8c/33/aa8c33a2f2090a816056c742bbae06f9.jpg This flying example was converted from a Hispano Buchon aircraft. The Schwungkraftanlasser starters on the Bf-109 (and other German aircraft) could be turned by hand with the ground crew or with electric start from the cockpit. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bqtmdMuitsXMpHk.html
