Servicing the Messerschmitt Kr 200. The basics. Thought I'd check the car over prior to a club rally next month. This has highlighted a few jobs which will need doing soon.

Hi @My Quirky Rides. Great video. I will be using this info for my 'Schmitt. Can you tell me what oil you use for the drive chain?

Hi there you can either use gear oil similar to that used in the gearbox, a non hypodermic (straight) gear oil or engine oil for this. Kind regards

Are they supposed to smoke like that? I used to own two Messerschmitts back in the 1970s. I was going to try to make one good one out of the two of them but I failed to get either one in roadworthy condition. I ended up selling both cars to the owner's club for next to nothing.

Hi, yes, the smoke is quite common, as it's a two stroke engine. The smoke does reduce considerably when the engine has warmed up. Thanks for watching.

@@peakfreans68 There are low smoke synthetic oils used for older snowmobiles etc. They can be used at lower ratios. Saab Stroker owners often use it.
