The New Hollands Workmaster 25 Compact Tractor is an economy machine. One that has a surprising amount of standard features, but also some basic aspects to it at the same time. New Holland offers a Workmaster and a Boomer series, in their compact line, the boomers being a lot more feature rich. We're going to walk you around the Workmaster a little bit here and show you some of the places that it's got a little bit more value baked into it, a little bit more basic machine, but ultimately a little bit lighter on your pocketbook.

This is why your channel is so valuable to tractor buyers. You endeavor to educate and genuinely aid the buyer in making the best decision, not just sell him something for fast money. This isn’t a commercial; it’s an informational piece. You have established yourself as a true expert in your field, and I just wish there were dealers like Messick’s in my neck of the woods.

I have had mine for over a year and have worked it like crazy. I love it. I got the shuttle shift to make up for the lack of horse power. I liked it because it was cheaper and heavier than the comparable John Deere and Kubota.

Pretty much the LS225E I have in my driveway, but the LS was mucho cheaper and came with a rubber floor mat. They’re good tractors with outstanding hydraulics, Korean made (not Chinese), and a lot of bang for the buck. I’ve had mine for about a year and with the shuttle shift (I like gearboxes) it’s never let me down. I didn’t like hoisting a 5 gal fuel can up to fill the tank, so I cured that by lifting the fuel can onto the backhoe seat and using a $8.00 2 D-cell Harbor Freight fuel pump to fill the tank. What a relief! A very accurate and honest evaluation Neil, as always. Thank you for a great review of a fine, ‘every mans’ tractor. 👍

I found on the Tc30 the link arms being screwed type actually handy if the 3pt spread is really large. Keeps them from rubber the tire. Extendable Link arms is a must and I wish I had them. I have to clean off the chaff constantly because the machine is closer to the ground/ high grass. I prefer the exhaust exit/ below. Nothing to get hung on. I wish the seat would go further back some how. Great review Neal! For someone that hasn't spent a lot of time on the unit you know what to look for.

I think LS tractor and CNH have a great partnership providing good tractors with good options in both New Holland and Case-IH at reasonable prices. I bought an LS XR4145HC simply because the LS dealer was in my area and had a great reputation. I started looking at Case IH and New Holland until I realized LS made the tractors for them and the dealers were much farther away.

For how good a loader stick coming out of the side console looks and how neat the lines running down to a the valve body there I worry about how easy it is to snag a hose hanging low on the machine. A lot of those tractors seem to have the lines exposed where as those loader mounted ones are less pretty but you don't have as many hoses going below the machine. I've never had an issue with it but we're careful around things sticking up where they'd catch lines.
@pyroman6000
@pyroman6000 2 жыл бұрын
I also like how the entire valve assembly is recessed behind the loader frame. An obstruction is going to hit that beefy chunk of steel before it ever gets to the valve. As for the hoses, I agree- those lower mounted ones just beg to be snagged on things. This may not look pretty, but there are fewer things to snag up top- and you'll be able to see them coming. Sure low hanging tree branches could do it- but YOU stick up much further, lol- if they're snagging your hoses, they're slapping you as well. I learned that as a kid, mowing around our rose bushes. %$#@ing thorn bushes!!!

I feel that it is actually easier to multi-function when using a joystick that is placed in front/on the loader than a valve that’s placed under the fender. I have an L3010 and a JD3720 and the kubota feels much easier to multifunction than the JD, but my arm will get tired quickly if I need to use the loader for extended periods of time. Good video Neil, keep it up! 👍

Where they really screwed up IMO with the Boomers is the loader.. I absolutely hate the loaders on the new boomers.. Had they stuck with the workmaster loader they woulda had a winner.. Those loaders are tough as nails and tighter to the machine how it should be where the boomers have very strange loaders which stick wayy out infront and don't have much curvature to them.. I think "Quiky" is the company that makes those workmaster loaders and man are they fantastic. Because of this, I would buy a workmaster over a Boomer.. My grandfather owns a 2020 Boomer he likes it but liked his old workmaster alot better as well.

A year and a half ago, we bought a workmaster 25 with the manual transmission to semi replace an 841 diesel Ford tractor. The Ford is powerful but the loader, being able to use the pto independent of moving, power steering and four wheel drive really make it more useful. So far I've used it with a 5ft rotary cutter, 2 bottom plow, auger and blade. We've also added forks for the front. Since 2018, the rear remote must've been added as standard since ours doesn't have it. One thing that would be nice is a third function. I called the Messick's New Holland store a few months ago and was told there isn't one.

A thing that we should all be told is how likely is it that you can get parts for your tractor right now if something breaks, and how likely is it you can get parts for it in the future. Some parts are in common use some parts are unique to one manufacturer. Good tractors can last much longer than parts are avalable.

There a couple out there that a lot of people talk highly about that I wouldn't give the time a day after the research that I did before I bought my tractor then there a couple out there that people seem to give a bad rap that actually in my opinion are 3 times the tractor then those other two.. But I have found out is that most of the people that talk bad about different brands have never really looked into owned or talked to people that have owned then. Like everything manufactured today there are some bad that came off the assemble line this is what happens when manufactory's move away from quality to production number and replace people with robotics.

Would have been nice to see where the 3 point controls and rear hydraulic control was located. Looked like a good basic machine, but how much do you save by not putting the little handle on the right side rear fender that is on the left side?? (I know you aren't going to get on and off that side of the tractor with the loader valve where it is, but I would, and I have seen most others, turn to that side when watching an implement behind you and that is likely where your right hand would go to...)

I know my LS is patent to some, if not most, of New Holland's smaller machinrs...or at least was in cahoots with LS. This is a new era and equity partnerships blow up all brand loyalties today. Maybe break down each video with a couple brands apiece, since the conglomerate relationships can get really convoluted.

Thing is they're not equal price - the Blue is usually a bit cheaper. So it's a smaller Orange or a larger Blue. But then both brands have economy and luxury models. And it's always horses for courses - there are things a particular blue model does well, things a particular orange model does well. I suspect if Neil was allowed to say it, he'd say the Kubota is a "better" brand. But they're more expensive, so they're not gonna be equal in price and features.

@@needstacos4892 it is a partnership according to him and the loader on it is actually an NH loader not an LS. These types of tractors have almost never been made completely by anyone. Shibuara and New Holland and even Ford before that were in partnership. Shibuara made almost every diesel engine in Ford farm tractors since 1965, and made almost all of their compact tractors in the 80's. New Holland continued that partnership through at least the early 2000's. I sold a 2003 TC 18 Shibuara to a guy who direct replaced the engine in his 1985 Ford 1310 with it...exact same engine. The fenders on the Workmasters and Boomers are pretty much identical to the ones on my TC series. I don't really care who makes a fender or who assembled it....I do care who made the engine, drivetrain, etc. "Made by LS" is just as misleading as "made by New Holland". Not in any nefarious way, but in reality. You can still buy the same old 70's vintage Ford farm tractors. They are just built in India by FarmTrac using the same tooling they used in the 70's....only made in a different foundry by a different company. They look the same....and still have Shibuara engines.

I know the difference. 13HP. :-) The answer is the same as always. More HP in the same frame doesn't let you pull any more - most tractors are traction limited. In low range they'll all spin their wheels. But running at any decent speed up a hill with a load on, or running a mower, you'll notice the extra HP. Same for driving any HP limited PTO equipment - snow blowers, mowers etc. You can run a bigger piece of equipment, or run it faster or harder. It's interesting to see the tests, but they are hard to do well. You could put the same mower on both and say they do the same. But where a 25HP machine would run a 5 foot mower, a 38HP would run a 7 foot. If it's on the same frame, then the 38HP might not lift or control the 7 foot mower, but it'd run it. Etc etc.
@tsafa
@tsafa 2 жыл бұрын
@@paullambert2668 good point about going up a hill. I have 1000 pounds on the back of 38 hp. I also think that increases the traction considerably. I was aware of the increased power at the PTO. My 38 have 31 at the PTO. I was wondering if that also means 31 going into the wheels.
@paullambert2668
@paullambert2668 2 жыл бұрын
@@tsafa I think it does mean 31 (or at least significant increase) at the wheels. On most tractors at low speed that extra HP is useless, if it only takes 25HP to spin your wheels, putting 31HP into them just makes them spin faster. So hauling heavy stuff, pulling stumps, it's not going to make a difference. But a lot of ground engaging stuff isn't slow speed - think pulling a loaded box blade. More HP in the same size tractor might let you pull that box blade faster / not bog down on a hill. Same with dragging a loaded trailer up a hill, or when running a big mower up a hill. Some of those things you probably shouldn't do fast anyway (thinking about the box blade here), but mowing it would make a difference. So, yes, more power at the wheels, but only some tasks get better with more power at the wheels.

I bought this tractor new in January. Took it back in February. Absolutely TOO MUCH weight for 25 horsepower. Low range is fine. Medium is iffy. High is useless. I don't always like to work at 2 miles per hour.

You'll find that's the case on most of these 25 horse tractors on large frames. Definitely a lot of companies pushing what 25 horsepower can do.

That seatbelt is dangerous! It could fly around and hit the operator. Better cut it off and discard it.

I can't stand the operator area in these. WAAYY too cramped, even on the bigger units. Everything is laid out weird and feels cheap or like an afterthought. Doesn't compare to the similar specced Kubotas in any way.

Junk LS. Poor build quality, inferior metals. Great review!
