Messing with Ethereal Workshop (Wave 5)

i’m usually able to get my “Messing with” videos out on update release, but i really had my work cut out for me this time.
as per the rule, there won’t be a DEFINITIVE Ethereal Workshop video until the island is completed, so the “Messing With” series will continue bi-wavely (i.e., every other wave/update)!
volume adjustments, modified tracks, more echo and reverb, yadda yadda. however, i’ve made some tweaks to the original NEW verse, alongside the official new verses added for Wave 5! this update has changed Ethereal Workshop the most, so i hope this video is worth the wait. see you in my next video, which is sure to be soon ;)

I felt like some monsters in Workshop ruined some parts ex: X'RT and Piplash. This fixes so many problems I have with the song, great video!

thank you! i forgot to include a comment about this in the video, but even though Nitebear or Teeter-Tauter for example were removed from the ending, i did try to give every monster a moment to shine before the song ended. Teeter-Tauter were removed from the second to last verse, but they play a major role when Whaill’s second track plays for the first time. Nitebear was removed from the second to last verse, but that was so quieter monsters like Blarret and X’rt could be more audible. tl;dr, i tried to make every change, removal or addition, matter to the overall structure of the track

Finally, somebody who isn't trying to "fix" the new verse! The entire point of it is that it's cluttered, off key, sudden and, well, unstable, and I wish it becomes even "worse" in those regards!

it took me some getting used to; there were early versions of this track where Nitebear and Pentumbra were removed in the last verses for being too much, but i think i found the perfect amount of chaos in my rendition of the song :)

X’rt is great, just a little underutilized in the base game. Pentumbra is also nice, but could be a little overused when listening to EW for the first time. Teeter-Tauter and Rhysmuth are INCREDIBLE additions, no complaints for either! however like X’rt, Teeter-Tauter could sound great when used more!

REALLY enjoyed this update, especially because it felt like a song extension was bound to happen eventually. i think that the last verses are a little cluttered in the base game, but i like that every monster gets a chance to play. in the context of my track, i think i balanced the monsters to my own liking :)

actually, Flasque does play in the last verse! i removed them from the third to last verse because i didn’t feel like they added much there, and because enough monsters are already fighting for the spotlight in those verses

@@theoriginalalex i don't know, it's probably the fact that it isn't that cluttered anymore. I know that sounds stupid, and belive me, every other island that has one part that is cluttered, is genuinely less enjoyable to me (best example i can give is Cave Island's chorus). But workshop i think is the first island in the game to have a cluttered verse, that sounds good. Hell, without the clutter, I dare say that last part feels empty, not enough noise to build up the very end of Whail's second track. My genuine only criticism of wave 5, is that Piplash doesn't play in the very last verse with everyone else. If you disagree, then I'm happy for you, but I think I've reached a point with workshop, where any criticisms i have, feel more like personal nitpicks.
