The sparring with Sugar Ray was actually worse than that. He'd had surgery on his eye and the agreement was no shots to the eye, the cocky guy he fought hit him in the eye and he actually said he went into pure fighter mode. He's given an awesome interview about it. Love the videos!

I can't believe the ref let the first boxing match continue! I guess that's what happens when you feint being woozy so much that the ref can't even tell when you're out on your feet!

Yeah, I thought so too. The ref should have stopped it, he was staggering when he was standing there after he stood up. If you've ever been nearly knocked out (I was in a karate match once) when you get up everything is two dimensional, you have no depth perception, you can't distinguish the distance between near and far objects, not to mention your brain isn't working at top speed anymore so you can't interpret what you're seeing quickly enough to respond to a punch. He was a sitting duck, just a punching bag after that, without the ability to defend himself, the ref should have not allowed it to go on.

Tell that to Mohammed Ali. Done correctly 'showboating' creates fear. That's why it has been used in battle as long as man could shake a fist or wave a club.
