Terrific! Thanks for the simple, yet lucid presentation. One thing you might add is to superimpose what you're seeing on the screen when you're in the set up. Still, this is very helpful, especially for a newbie like me!!

Thanks for the kind words! The setup doesn't have any mechanism to pull out the video of what was happening. If that functionality every is available I will update exactly as you suggested.

Games do have ratings! Click view info on a title, green/comfortable is great for beginners, then orange which is moderate, then red which is intense

If I am hard of hearing and don't have a cell phone, How do I connect to a wi-fi network? Do I use a USB-c cable to my laptop to download into my laptop the software package to run the headset ? And how do I use my laptop to put any applications into the headset ? Or am I making this whole thing ridiculously complex ?

Please help me for some reason. My oculus is stuck on an account where we cannot remember the pattern and when we try to select forget pattern, it doesn’t let us get past it or manufacturer reset the oculus quest 2. But my main problem is when I try to install the oculus mobile app onto my android device or my iPhone device the very first screen I get to as a payment screen and I do not have a credit card to put in there just to set up the mobile app is that something that I have to have in order to even set up the app I don’t know what to do I’m stuck I can’t get past that screen for the app

Nice intro video, quite helpful to get an overview. Wish you had also shown how the spectacles spacer gets fitted and how to comfortably use with spectacles (wish I could just take them off as you did). My stuff also came with a silicon protective band, is that really required?

The band is new for people that have an allergy to the material. Not needed unless you have that sensitivity.

You are very thorough in your explanation of how to get started. I bought this for my hubs, who is 73 yo. He's getting ready to retire and needs a hobby. I am having to watch your vid for about 30-45 sec, and then tell him what to do. He has zero patience, and mine is wearing thin. I need an adult beverage! He had the damn hand controllers in the wrong hands, no wonder he couldn't find the oculus button, #9 on the diagram of the quick start guide, which he never looked at. Please tell me that I will survive him learning this. 😵‍💫

Thank you, that was a clear and helpful video which refreshed my memory to help out a family member set up their new Christmas gift tomorrow. (I need to get them to charge it up a couple hours before I get there.) Well done that you went through the complete out of the box set up in 15 minutes. My first headset took longer but I had to get my Facebook account on my phone and install and link the Oculus app. Then the Oculus app and headset had trouble pairing but finally did. When I set up a second headset for my wife I made my account primary on her headset and everything went quickly since my phone already was set up with my Facebook and the Oculus app. Fortunately pairing worked right away. (I was wondering if pairing to a second headset would be a problem but not at all. And nice too that the phone doesn't need to be nearby after it pairs with the headset and your Oculus account is created on the headset.) So far my wife can use my apps in my primary account but I should create a secondary account for her, linked to her Facebook account so she can connect with her friends. She may still be able to use my apps logged in to her account, we'll see. Anyway this is fun! I'll have to check out your home theater videos, I expect they are great too!

@@perladavila772 To create a new Oculus account it must be linked to a valid Facebook account. Some older Oculus accounts are not linked and in the future it might not be required again. For now you must link.

I'm having trouble pairing with my phone. They sent a confirmation email, which I didn't receive until after MULTIPLE tries. (my email account has problems receiving all my emails. I checked Spam also) I finally received it, set up a password, then it took me to a page that said "not authorized to use this page. I'm stuck and can't seem to get any further. No help out there from Oculus at all. Very frustrating.

Hey thanks this was a real helpful tutorial. I just bought my son one for Christmas and he opened it today. We just watched a tutorial we only open the box. We haven’t got to it yet. Don’t know if you will get to my question before I figure it out, but I was wondering about the controllers and how they stay charged do you have to charge them to or is it solar or what is it? The don’t charge. Just use batteries. AA I think. You can use rechargeable batteries if you want though.

Excellent explanation on setting up the Oculus Quest 2. Is there any games included? My grandson showed me a game called Zombies. He was able to cast it on his phone and help me play the game.

I am thankful that a facebook account is no longer a requirement to use the device. This is one of the smartest decisions from Meta imo. Thanks for the guide vid. 👍

There is a hard plastic insert that is supposed to be used while wearing glasses. How is it inserted?

The pad just pulls off, the insert clips on, and then the pad goes back over that.

How does the plasic rim work with glasses?

The ide is that it holds the unit further from your face. Its not super effective though.

At 4:07 you report that the headset instructions require you to grab the controllers. I had only a blank screen on the headset with 2 choices;; 1-Factory reset 2- Turn off. I selected Turn Off , waited a few moments while the screen displayed a label ‘Restarting’ and it turned on again , only then did it display the instructions to grab the handsets. Another problem I came across, when I tried to pair the headset with the Oculus app, it tried to pair but after a few minutes it still didn’t pair. I. had to close the Oculus app, open it again, click on Menu, click on Devices, select the Quest 2 and then it asked to pair the headset, this time it was able to discover the headset and allowed me to enter the 5 digit code that was displayed on the headset screen. Thank you for a great tutorial.

Randomly my headset stopped allowing me to be able to connect to the servers, so I reset my headset to factory settings and deleted the headset off the oculus app but now that I am trying to pair it again to the app that headset is no longer recognized, and the five digit code will not work either. Can you help me?
