To be honest the helicopter actually pretty accurate to the movie. The Helicopter was not based on anything real

I think Drift might be the most challenging Transformer to replicate in toy form since he’s a triple changer and he’s from post-DotM, where most of the Transformers have a more humanoid appearance and minimal kibble. This figure is quite a feat. The fact that the transformation isn’t super nightmarish is a huge surprise. This is definitely the new bar for any movie-verse Drift figure

A movieverse triple changer, the fact the heli mode even vaguely resembles one is a feat unto itself couple the fact that it doesn’t seem to interfere with either of the the other two modes makes it easily forgivable. Great review as always Emgo, with how expensive 3p gets its great to have someone doing super comprehensive reviews on em, complex transformations and all

Well, to be fair, the helicopter mode actually resembles the one in the movie

Firstly, I'm really impressed with Metagate. Their first figure is just amazing. Secondly, I think when it comes to Triple Changers, something isn't going to look good. There are exceptions, but something usually suffers and the Helicopter Mode was the case this time. But I'll give them credit, they tried and did the best they could. Lastly, I'm pretty surprised Drift didn't lose his mind at 37:29, like he did in the past. I guess he has enough HONOR to not freak Optimus Prime out or lose his mind.

I wonder if drift has enough honor to not give Optimus prime ptsd this time 😂

This is by a mile the coolest looking Bayformer I have ever seen.

How you remember to transform all these is amazing.

The wrist rotating at the forearm makes sense, it's how a human arm rotates.

This is a great toy with good details and I can see that they really tried to make it look better in helicopter mode but it works

Just got this guy in hand a week ago, and I couldn’t be happier. As a company first figure, I expected all the classic issues, mainly pertaining to QC. but nope, I haven’t had an MP style figure with QC this good in YEARS. Every tiny hinge and joint is perfectly tight, and nothing flops. Just an absolute joy to handle. Transforming him is really fun. Like, really fun. Only knock on him is the articulation. It’s not good. Understandably so. Oh and the biggest compliment I can hand him: I have yet to even try transforming him into Heli mode, and I can’t even tell he has that mode stored in him. Absolutely nothing about his bot and car mode are compromised. I’d love to see them retool this into his TLK black and red Mercedes, while getting rid of the excess engineering required to form him into a helicopter. If you can, absolutely pick this guy up. 9/10.

You make Transformations fun and doable with confidence. I'll use this to TF mine soon. My whole AOE collection is in alt mode until I spend a day Transforming & Photoing them all. Looking forward to the next review. Cheers!

WOW, that engineering is incredible, I wonder if they took some design cues (or straight up some staff :P) from Unique Toys' Peru Kill, they both achieve EXTREME change from car to robot without being too complicated, it still feels like it happens in big chunks with smaller pieces shitfting for detailing, even if I don't particularly love AOE Drift's design as it it dangerously close to feeling racially insensitive, I NEED to get this for that transformation alone, wow, the robot is completely clean! And hey, they truly did try their hardest to get a chopper mode without comproming either of the other modes!

mad props to metagate not only did they attempt a triple changer, they attempted a bayverse triplechanger, yeah so the"helocopter" mode isnt the best ,but that car mode and robot mode are just glorious, a round of applause for metagate for going that extra mile

Thanks alot for your tutorial I was abled to transform it less painstakingly. God I couldn't comprehend it by myself if it wasn't for your J.T.I & for that from the bottom of my heart I humbly thank you for your tutorial videos for without them & your in depth reviews & recommendation I would've not dare to venture into 3rd party Transformers. Kudos to you bro. Keep up the good work. Thanks also to those 'basement dwelling china man' as someone which I subscribed to also mentioned it, for making Drift into a singular entity triple changer a reality haha.

Car mode: Great. Robot mode: Cool. "Helicopter" mode: "Please end my agony and dishonor and grant swift and merciful death." In all fairness though, if you saw the third mode side-on in silhouette, it would actually look _kinda_ like a real helicopter. Just don't turn the lights on. Or show it from the front, where it's way too skinny. Or touch it, breathe on it or leave it near a drafty window, in case it collapses.

I like how the helicopter mode looks like one of those shadow sculptures. Where it's just a pile of trash, but if you shine a light on it from a specific angle, you'll get an actual form. 😅👍

Trying to make a coherent helicopter alt mode is a pretty monumental task, works for me

This drift is really really nice, only gripe is that they could have put some hinge or slider in the hips so that he could have more leg flexibility

I recently got this and had this figure for awhile, recommend to be cautious when manipulating the rotation hinge joint during the leg transformation as mine had snapped off :(

It always amazes me when something is so bad that even you won't transform it again for comparisons. Says a lot about the TW Prime.

In all fairness to HAIKU, the helicopter mode in the movie is also a mishmash of parts. Still, much better than anything Hasbro could have done, even with crowdfunding. Solid review Emgo!

I bought the upcoming Bludgeon repaint. I wanted a sixth Alternator figure. I know this guy is Masterpiece scale and will be a bit bigger, but since he turns into a car and not a tank, I thought he'd fit in nicely.

I am absolutely impressed with what Metagate did with this figure. I believe my copy just arrived 😁😆, I for one will definitely keep my eyes on Metagate as I believe they can pull off a aoe crosshairs that looks just as good if not better than this not drift.

TBH, if I saw that flying around 100 miles up in the air, I'd be fooled. XD

Metagate did an incredible job with this figure. Triple changers are never easy and here we basically have a bayverse Springer in the form of drift. So asking to fit a car and helicopter into a robot and have vet little kibble from either is a huge feat. Ok so the helicopter is the weakest of the modes, but the shape of it is pretty accurate so while not perfect it could be worse. And the figure doesn't have a frustrating transformation just a lot of folding and twisting compared to say Alien Attack's DOTM Megatron.

I was honestly impressed with the Car and Robot mode and was even tempted to get My copy UNTIL the helicopter mode ... made Me change My mind

This is so close to being a perfect figure, just a pair of shifting hips for more leg movement would easily make it so much better.

The fact that his robot mode is more or less completely symmetrical except for the forearms bothers my OCDemons, but I understand why, and it's more or less accurate to the movie model. Mostly it's amazing they managed both the car and helicopter alt modes even if the latter only vaguely resembles one. They had a more or less impossible task to accomplish and made a surpisingly good attempt. Nice to see.

I give this figure 5 stars even with the helicopter mode. I don't have any other triple changer figures so no idea if those are any better.

Bold choice for them to base the copter mode on a crashed helicopter. For real though, the other 2 modes are incredible, so the helicopter mode isn't too big of an issue. Plus it's good for a laugh if nothing else lol

There’s already an upgrade kit with a new bigger sword that helps heli mode look better. Don’t know if it’s available for purchase, but it really fixes that stupid looking propeller.

The helicopter looks okay, just call it his cybertronian mode.

Imagine when they'll do Shatter and Dropkick the marvelous figures they'll release but I hope they will be in scale with Magnificent Prime

A for effort! If you consider that in the bumblebee movie we have 2 triple changers and Hasbro/ Takara didn't try to make a real tree mod toy! At least, meta gate try!

Hi emgo316 awesome video as allways I was just wondering what do you do with your transformer boxes when you throw them on the floor.

is it bad that I watch your reviews of bots, i'm not even remotely interested in, simply for the skit? lol I love those things, for real, most awesome thing EVER! Also, what these guys were able to do for the car, and bot mode is outstanding, and totally earns them a pass on the copter mode. I mean, its got the silhouette right, so just backlight it, during the 5% of it's life you have it in that mode lol. I mean, the pretty steadfast rule for triple changers is, one mode is going to suffer, right? At least they didn't pull a hasbro, with 2 crappy modes, and 1 alright mode..

The helicopter mode could've still worked if the propellers were longer.It could've been a cybertronian helicopter.

Btw bro can you do also a review & video tutorial for the new Metagate's Air King (Terrorsaur) if you decide to get your hands on it. I saw the video on another channel. Looks good with decent transformation but not sure of the built quality.

I believe that MetaGate did an amazing job with this figure. Many other 3rd party companies can't even pull off a single transformation to work properly. However, in my opinion, there could be a way to make a triple changer look great in all 3 modes: parts forming (what?! Parts forming?! Ssshhh!)

If I were creating an off-brand Drift, I would name him Weaboo.

To be fair the helicopter mode is a base a 3rd party company can easily make a shell to attach to the outside to make it look like a helicopter
