The BS-85 may be small but it is mighty.

Thanks so much for this video. I have been curious about the cut capacity on a 45° and I was pleased that you answered that quickly.

Thanks for your kind words and for watching the video! I'm glad it was helpful for you. Just a quick note about the saw - some users, including myself initially, have experienced the blade wandering. However, with proper setup and adjustment, I've managed to use mine effectively and regularly without issues. Cheers!

the fact that the HEAD SWIVELS instead of the vise!!! damn!! mind blown! my 10k 2500 lb 11" x 17" doesn't do that. need something small for a ton of mobile fab coming up and this thing looks perfect for that. thanks for the review

Thanks mate, yeah it's a good little saw. It does take a while to cut through thicker sections but I like it. The blade will wonder if you push it to hard.

You really want a cold chop saw (faster and neater cut) for cutting box section and tubing not a bandsaw - bandsaws excel at heavy solid rods and bars

They don't leave a clean edge without distortion on a 14TPI bimetal blade? They're also *really* loud?

In my current situation, a cold chop saw is too loud - they're loud as hell!!

You mention that cutting lubricant should be used but Vevor and Kaka say that you should NOT use lubricant as any carried on the belt could cause it to slip on the rubber lined wheels. What is your experience?
@weldingempire
@weldingempire Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, I do you a drop or two of cutting oil on stainless steel. The blades wouldn't last long if I didn't. I have checked the rubber on the drive wheels and they still looked dry. I hope that helps.

Bought an Evolution cold cut saw for the same purpose. The fence flexes and therefore difficult to get straight cuts, particularly with 45 deg. cuts. Supplier will not take responsibility. So will be building a new fence and (probably) base to get a more ridged fixture.
@weldingempire
@weldingempire 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Graeme, thanks for the comment. I think it's well worth building a stronger fence. It saves a lot of time in the long run.
@gabeayres541
@gabeayres541 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's exactly why I didn't buy the evolution, I got the fein slugger instead as it has a heavy cast steel fence, and I use it to miter stainless steel angle so it has to be super tight. Great tool and very fast. Looking at getting a bandsaw as well though as the cold cut saw is so loud cutting stainless, and I'm trying not to piss off the neighbours...
@paulraymond1804
@paulraymond1804 9 ай бұрын
@@gabeayres541true that mate about pissing off the neighbours. How have you gone with that? Noise is the number 1 reason I'm looking to add a bandsaw instead of just 5" grinders and my atrociously loud abrasive chop saw. LOUD.

Great review. Do you think this saw would suit mainly being used in the vertical position? I make knives and it looks handy to cut synthetic materials

I see this is the Kaka model BS85.........I've just bought a BS85 one on EBAY, arriving in a weeks time, but it doesn't have the name Kaka on it just the BS85 so I assume it is the same one......thanks for the review.

@weldingempire

Hey mate. I use the liquid trefolex. Only needs a few drops per cut. I have cut a lot of stainless with mine and the blades lasted well.

hey, great review, was wondering how much of a wonder the blade has from square once the material is cut?whats the fitt up like if you put 45 degree mitre to mitre together to tig weld? cheers
@weldingempire
@weldingempire 3 жыл бұрын
Cheers, the cut was good once I allowed for the wonder. It would be good for pie cuts also. It is the radius that twists the blade.

how do you ajust the blade on these machine mine cut a little bit inward from top to bottom cut
@weldingempire
@weldingempire 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, it depends on the cut. If you do any cuts of 90° the blade is stressed. This will be evident on any machine. I have used a $60,000 bandsaw and it has the same effect. To avoid this. In my video, let the blade come into contact with the rhs /shs then you usually move it back about the same amount as the blade deflection you get from your "test cut". Most people don't have the attention to detail as you. I appreciate your comment and I hope it helps. Being very delayed.

@@weldingempire Thats good, I'm tossing up between one of these or a Hare and Forbes model. From your decibel test I can see that its pretty close to a grinder, is that accurate? I would thought a grinder is way louder. I ask as ill be using it in my garage and would rather keep the neighbour's on side with my projects haha
@weldingempire
@weldingempire 3 жыл бұрын
If you are in Australia and you are close to Hare and Forbes , I would buy the that. Just for the reason you can buy the blades in store. I find the bandsaw to be quieter than the grinder. I was only using a free decibel meter on my phone.
