The best coin hunting mode on the legend is 4 khz by far if you hunt in very trashy Parks like I do. Because this frequency doesn't like low-to-mid conductors it easily picks out coins in the trash where all the other frequencies will struggle. On the downside you won't be picking up many gold rings unless they're laying right on the surface. It's my favorite mode in this detector right now...

4kHz is a no go for me personally, as it does not like fringe depth dimes as much as 10kHz (or M1) in my soil, and most of the quarters and halves are long gone. It will also null out the nickels in the dime/nickel/dime/nickel test. If you have Buffs and V nickels at your park, beware.

Thanks for your reply John the popping at the end of the signal I mention that you had in gold mode I discovered is caused by the Threshold, it defaults to 0 in park field and beach and 12 in Goldfield which is why you only hear it in the gold setting. I like to turn up threshold to search for smaller targets which gives me the irritating popping at the end of the signal when used in field park or beach. I use an AT Max where I turn threshold up and back it down 1 to quieten, then it gives a clean signal 👍 let’s hope they can sort the legend out with an update because this has the makings of a great machine. 👍

I`m hearing very good things about the just released update on these. I can`t afford this but would one day like to find a discounted Simplex. I have a Vanquish 340 I got for 170 on a damaged box deal. I`m really excited and can`t wait to spend some time testing it in the nearby woods, fields, old gardens, and along the creek after I move in the coming weeks. I believe using headphones the Simplex or the Legend can mop up on deep silver coins in old yards and school grounds.

I paid approximately $541 for my Legend with the LL headphones, LG 30 9x12 coil and full carbon shaft. It has the adjustable iron bias which really brings this detector up there with the much more expensive machines. I would have to say that "this is one awesome unit and it is a Home Run for Nokta"!!

Excellent review, covered everything we need to know. I agree, this detector is the king of price/performance displacing the Simplex. Unbelievable all the features Nokta Makro was able to squeeze into this price point. Congratulations to TheHunterGT and Nokta Makro!

How can it displace the simplex for value, the legend is twice the price but not much better and many other reviews don't rate it.

@@paulmartin3946 Just my opinion after 250+ hours with Simplex and 80+ with the Legend. Others are free to form their own. I couldn't care less about shill reviews - haters - people who don't have extended time on both. In my California (heavily mineralized) dirt the Legend beats the Simplex by nearly 3 inches - is more sensitive to sub gram gold - passes iron tests better with the same sized coil - handles bi-metal crown caps better. I could go on I'm sure, but do not want to sound like I am pooping on the Simplex - as it is a fantastic detector as well. Both operate at a higher level than their price indicates.

I get what you are saying, l wasn't trying to put the legend down, my point was the simplex has to be the best value detector out there. I have seen other videos on the legend and the earlier ones had mixed reviews but the latest ones say its a very good machine. Best wishes from England.

@@paulmartin3946 I meant no offense Paul. My apologies if it came off sounding pompous. I would never argue with somebody if they thought the Simplex wore the crown for price-to-performance. Either way we look at it...NoktaMakro has the #1 and #2 slot on that board. Great for the budget-minded buyer, who gets awesome performance, for the price, with either choice. Cheers.

What would be the best mode to use when there is lots of iron and nail. What settings would you recommend? BTW this is the best video I seen yet. I'm struggling with the legend. Thank you

there ya go ... good review HunterGT ... already seeing people wanting and asking for the TIDs to be more "stabilized" ... IMO this needs to be nipped in the bud before it gets to v2.78 status ... most likely it wont affect me, but I hate to see a 'limiter' employed on any advancement to this hobby ... I'd love to see a video showing how different arrangements of targets affect the TIDs of metal detectors, telling it like it is.

Thanks Scott. 100% agree they need to NOT listen to the people unhappy with fringe depth bounce. I have no issues on medium range target ID even in my harsh soil. No 2.78 BS needed.

Very interesting/telling tests. It does seem to have a little more to go to catch the Equinox, so it’s all about the updates now and we’ll see if they hit their intended target.

had my legend for 3 months and it has sniffed out $300.00 in clad a little silver but i designed my own hunt in park mode ,everytime i go out i come hohands full of money i love this machine, rings are yet to come so far gridding soccer fields reallllly!!!! pay off goodluck to everyone who owns this machine ty

Very in-depth video, where the multi frequency comes in is with high mineralized soil and more so on the beach because single frequency machines don't like the beach especially wet sand

Just bought the Legend and waiting for shipment. I used to use the Nox 600. Despite the small performance difference, I wanted to go with the Legend simply because they didn't do us dirty like Minelab did with the Nox 600 basically being an 800 with locked features. The Legend has all frequencies from 4 to 40 unlocked. User profiles unlocked. 10 recovery speeds available. The Nox 600 only allowed 3 of 6 recovery speeds to be used, doesn't allow user profiles, etc.

Wow all these functions in a good price point for the detector. I am impressed, but then Again I like new toys. If I could afford to buy so many different detectors I would be buying one of every kind. Just because this hobby is so much fun. Thanks for running over the functions on this detector.. I like the build Quality the Simplex has and I know it is a really good detector for a low end detector and this one is built just like the Simplex with a lot more to Tweak Out.. Awesomeness

Is the fcc controling the power well back 30 40 yrs was fcc limiting power out put why do they do it or did not care before glad I kept my whites idx pro 11 volts 12 dc you would think that may make a difference when going deep

Hi John whats causing the tapping noise at the end of the signal when you did the gold test I've just purchased the legend and I'm well pleased with it but that noise at the end of the signal is really annoying me especially when I use the headphones. Great video by the way 👍

I am unsure, might be due to size of target. I only hear it on that test and not with coins.

Related but possibly not, I have a F44 and would like to get a Simplex+, if I do , would it come with the latest version software ? I’m looking at the base unit priced around $255. ( machine only ) This is why I’m asking.

I still think the simplex has a better and faster recovery.nokta made the legend to try and compete against other detectors.has anyone noticed how those that have the equinox are selling there's for the simplex and legend.idk but I'll stick with what works best.

Original had a plastic (poly-resin) shaft...carbon fiber was an accessory.

Sorry I thought this was a Simplex video. On the Legend, the original lower shaft was carbon fiber from day one - the upper shaft was aluminum. My bad.

Why doesn't Nokta (and all the other major brands) use Gorilla Glass 🦍, which is the same as on your cellphone, and its super tough, doesn't scratch doesn't break..

Think about something? If a Merc dime was started minting in 1916 it has to be lost after 1916. Square nails date back to the 1700's here so unless a house were burned or torn down how many square nails should be over a Merc dime? Especially that far over it? I have dug deep coins with nails around in the hole in an area the ground had been bulldozed from taking old buildings down but this usually isn't the case. Well yeah in farm fields things get turned over but how many nails are in farm fields unless you find an old building site but then again the next tilling can put the coin back over the nail so that's why you always return to hunt the farm fields

Silver is heavier than iron - thus sinks faster. That is about all the effort I want to put into thinking about it lol. I have found zinc pennies deeper than Mercs and square nails both. Wrap your head around that.

Posted a while ago about my legend locking up , couldn’t turn it off , none of the buttons worked . I found a solution if anyone else encountered this problem hold the power button for about 20 seconds and it will reset , at least it did for me .

They are aware and a fix will be provided in an upcoming update. Holding the power button down for 20 seconds is the quick fix for now. No issues here thankfully.

I almost bought this detector. Seams like some problems with the legend. Already 2 updates then they pull the latest update. I’ll wait or maybe move on.

Crap happens with technology. Deus 2 has had two updates as well - one of which was pulled for performance issues. Cell phones and computers should have taught us all that updates are not always perfect. Getting them fixed quickly is what matters. NoktaMakro does very well with that.

the thing everybody is overlooking and is so important is this machine as great as it is, does not leak. take it in the water no problem. Here in Virginia, we call the 800 sponge bob.

It is pretty early to tell if they will have an issue or not. Many of the 800's did not start leaking until months (or a year or 2) of usage. I do not expect issues knowing NM quality...but can't tell the future either.

Incorrect. Simplex - Anfibio - Kruzer - GF2000 - GK...all use the same cable and din connection. I personally used the Anfibio cable to update the Simplex and Legend firmware both.

Simplex finds the same thing. Legend not a big deal kinda pricey. Simplex best machine out of 5 detectors that I own. Just saying not bad mouthing The legend. Lol

Simplex is a very good detector for the price - but cannot be compared to the Legend. The Legend is deeper in mineralized soil - more sensitive to small gold - much more stable in saltwater - much better on rusty and bi-metal caps - way better settings options. I think the Simplex is awesome, but there really is no comparison between the two.

I would rather look at it as the Legend is not a competitor to the Nox, at its price point it is a “rival” to the performance of a Nox. I’ll never be hunting salt water locations nor iron filled locations….why would I buy a Nox for capabilities that I don’t need or will ever need. I’m not even a deep (8”+) hunter. My MultiKruzer has been a great machine and it cost $700 at that time….for me , I’m paying less for the Legend than what I already own. I consider the Legend to be a MultiKruzer on steroids……Nokta will get my money ,no questions asked!🙏

I can agree with that for your scenario 100%. However, Nokta went directly after the Nox in their marketing, so it has to match it or it will take flak. I see it how you see it, I don't care about company marketing. However, they did spout off on this one - no doubt about it. I hope they shut up next release and just let it speak for itself.
