in the past you used a wooden privy outdoors in the crowded town to go to the loo, the waste fell into a pit below, once a year the gong farmers dug it out and carted it out of town and it was spread on the fields as fertilizer...it was full of coins fallen out of peoples clothing sitting on the loo
