The military badge that you found is called a distinctive insignia or DI. The 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment is by far one of the most famous units of World War II. The book “Band of Brothers” which was also an HBO series is about that unit.

Aren't they at Ft. Bragg now? I seem to remember their barracks being down close to Lee Field House. Might be getting that wrong. The 503rd MP Battalion was down there too.

Yeah, I saw that and freaked out! Man, I’d be trying to get ahold of a family member of one of the vets of 101st Airborne 506 Regiment to give it to them! The ‘Currahee’ means ‘we stand alone’ I believe and was the name of the mountain the men marched and ran up for PT at Camp Toccoa, GA. As for where those men would be training now, that would be Fort Benning, GA where the US Army Ranger units reside Cheers! 🖖😎👍.

5:04 button looks like it came from a band uniform (possibly the item called a Tabbard) The band uniform I wore in High school had those same designs back in the 60's.

Your getting a lot of clad out of your way. Deeper signals should show up. All the same this was a good hunt. And I love Gary's Native artifact. My first love from artifact hunting up in Pa. John Congratulations on the endfield! I also love that military badge you found.

That pin with the square with the stripes MIGHT be a pin from the U.S. Army's third division. They had the same design.

Nice hunt guys. In my small town they bring in fill dirt from all over the county when they are doing projects such as schools and parks. You never know were that dirt was originally.

Now that I have lived down there, I certainly appreciate the struggle it is to continue to get quality digs. I had a ho hum day today in NY but I still dug two silver coins. I wish you could come up and enjoy it sometime - that 12 hr drive is a task, though :) HH

Could one of you guys tell me what the optimal length is for a shovel for digs? I've seen people use various sizes but the shovels used in your videos look like the length I'd like, and where's a good outlet to purchase one of the shovels?

Lesche or Predator Tools make great shovels, I usually stock the Lesche Sampson 31" T-Handle which is the one I use but I'm out of stock at the moment.
