Nothing beats the VCO tone of a First Texas machine in my opinion. NoktaMakro comes "close"...but not quite.

Nice Wheatie. I found one on a Toronto Beach and didn't realize it was a Wheatie until I showed it to another detectorist. That park is nice!

Now I know why people have been calling me a nerd for the past 30 plus years. You mentioned metal detecting is a nerdy Hobby. Guess that means I'm going to quit. Tomorrow morning I'm taking all my metal detectors down to the pawn shop and getting rid of them. The last thing I want is for people to think I'm a nerd. Appreciate the info Hunter. I can`t afford these high tech detectors. My most expensive detector cost a fortune used in the 1970s, a used Whites for 500. Then I bought the best Bounty Hunter they made in the mid 1990s for 250. Found a lot of gold rings with it. It was stolen and my nephew bought me a BH Pioneer 202 several years ago and while messing around in my sister`s yard I found a silver half dollar so badly worn that I didn`t recognize what it was until later. I got the bug again but in my area old silver coins are too deep for most detectors. I studied about the best bang for the buck in detectors for my needs and finally found a no brainer. So to hunt old silver and have something I can use if I ever go back to the beach I recently got an open box Vanquish 340 deal for 170. Somebody returned it without ever putting it together.

Vanquish 340 is no joke. Quite deep for the price. You might land a gold ring with ice that pays off a CTX3030 someday - never know. Keep at it.

@@thehuntergt I`m getting 13 inches in air tests indoors around tons of metal (trailer home) on a nickle. It seems to be the least sensitive on quarters for some reason. I can`t find my piece of gold bracelet and silver half dollar I found with my Bounty Hunter to test with it. Has no issues detecting a 177 pellet either at 3 inches.

Tough call. T2 is more ergonomic and handles soil chatter and EMI better. Impact is deeper but chattier and heavier. I'd probably go T2 if I had to pick one...but love them both.

It will work. Use 0 disc - 50 sens - listen for loud clear hits. Set of keys should be an easy hit.
