@lightpoacher No problem! I use the same settings, but it only applies to dry sand. It doesn't do very well on wet sand, though.

You said that you had problems after putting the coil in the sea. This because salt water gets between the coil cover and the coil itself. It will not harm the coil, but the salt water moving around in the coil cover produces false signals. It is posible to avoid this by either draining the cover, or by sealing the cover against water ingress.

Hey, I just bought one of these detectors second hand at it's awesome. I've used it for like ten hours or so and it's very simple, versatile and its signals are easy to recognize (what is what).

Great little detector. I may actually go back to it again soon, and do some hunt vids with it!

I found that as well. But I DID find some good stuff. It depends on how infested the land is. Found my first hammered with the 3MX :) Cheap but good? I hear good things about the Euroace (but you'll still be digging iron) and I have to admit I love the 4MX.

@ge0cache That means you must be in Ashford, which means I'm just down the road from you :) I haven't found anything 'brilliant' with it yet, but I'm constantly finding things. About £40 in money, a roman palm guard, victorian coin, military button from 1800's, a medieval buckle, god knows how many buttons and bullets. Its only a matter of time before I find something golden...!

Hiya Luke. Yup, thats the downfall of the 3MX. Its a 'bloomin good detector. But you will be diggin iron. That being said, ALL detectors get iron. Its just part of the game.

Back in the day... 1/4" stereo headphone jacks were the standard type, and still are for professional equipment. 3.5mm jack plugs and sockets (miniature) are for domestic Low Fi equipment. 1/4" to 3.3mm adapters can cause connection problems (not recommended)... i.e. 'the rusty bolt effect' with RF devices such as metal detectors. If your headphones have a 3.5 jack plug and your detector has a 1/4" socket... then change your plug to a 1/4"

If you live in the UK then save yourself all the headaches of buying one from abroad, these machines are designed for our land, can be serviced in our land and don't cost us an inflated price compared to those that get imported and have to pay duty/taxes etc. It's not that they are made any cheaper they are just cheaper because they are made here devoid of import duty.

Thanks just seem to be digging a lot of iron and not a lot of good things! If i was going to change detector what would you suggest cheap but good

Nice video, cheers. So you've used this for both beach & land, does it prefer one from the other but is competent at/over both?

When burying items for demo's put them in a plastic bag then all you need to do is pull up the plastic bag when you have finished.

I've had this machine for a while and set it like you have and it works well but it still picks up large pieces of iron as a good tone?
