@@Spike-jb8gf A pulpit is where a priest usually gives the sermon from, and "open this pit up" is an instruction at metal/hardcore shows to start a mosh pit, so it's a bit of a play on words.

Dude!! Ive played rock/metal and more as a live player since 16yrs old [51 currently]. When i started playing with the Worship Team many moons later, i did bring all of that with me and did stuff like this when it fit!! The Parishioners always loved Our Worship. They continually said it felt more connected.. This wasnt just b/c of me, it was the teamwork but this definitely worked in that break down Brother!! just dont over play it when you do this stuff!! Love to play metal fills during worship practice too. Hahahah. The single hand roll into the bridge is amazing mechanics. Crisp. Tight. Clean. Even the intro has a metal feel to it. You should be driving the chorus with the vocals a bit behind you, but you sit with the vocals just like a metal song would be played. That single hand roll appears to have drumline feel to it, but the metal is in your heart. 100% love this. More please.

As a metal drummer who got into worship drumming last year...This is 100% me. THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I have to fight going into a half time breakdown beat is agony.
