For a DIY insulation you can buy a froth pack and lay an inch of foam on the wall then add a the 1" insulation foam board. The use OSB board to cover it all up

I foam-boarded mine inside for insulation. Leaving approximately 0.75" air space between inside of metal siding/roof. This was done after I ran wiring. Then covered walls and ceiling with a final surface. Used expanding foam in corners and wherever there was light coming in. Also placed conduit in the floor below concrete to avoid drilling into sheet metal sides, worked beautifully! Off-set the garage doors (opposite walls, opposite corners) to save on usable space inside. Did NOT use the "bubble wrap insulation" very low "R" value for the money and deteriorates over time. Was able to insulate entire building with foam board for less than it would have cost to insulate only the roof with the Bubble insulation. Nice job on the video!
@YamRida4684 жыл бұрын
Jim Cole thank you! And sounds really nice would like to see some pictures of yours inside for some ideas. I just ran electrical and I’m getting ready to insulate and looking for ideas. Was gonna spray foam but way to pricey. I’m not sure about the bubble insulation your talking about I’ve never heard or seen that. Why the air space? You heating it too?
@jimcole64234 жыл бұрын
@@YamRida468 Yes, theres heating. A "dead" air space contributes to the insulative value or "R-value". I also bought tubes of silicone caulk and sealed all seams of the siding from inside first to reduce air flow and moisture. The method I implemented seems to be the least expensive/most effective solution.

Looks great! I've got to get my land surveyed but the smallest it looked like I could go with was 24W×30D and was worried that'd be awfully small but after seeing the Ram and Vette in there with room to spare makes me feel better if I can't go larger.

I have one very simular to yours. Mine is a 20x25 which is all the room I had for it. I have a lift in the center which makes it pretty much a one bay garage with all my tools and benches around the sides. We all wish they were bigger after the fact. I used silicone to glue up reflective fiberboard insulation sheets to the sheet metal and it made it much cooler and quieter inside. I am in Alabama so it gets really hot here with no insulation. That back wall is a perfect spot to put an exhaust fan up high to cool yours down.

Nice shop looks great, I have a 30x24 slab already poured so my next step is the metal garage. What I plan to do is instead of using the tin siding I'm going to close it in with particle board tyvec it and then use vinyl or aluminum siding similar to a house. Doing this should make insulating inside much easier (I hope)! Lol I want the garage to blend into the neighborhood so you will never know it's a metal building. I've always wanted roll up doors because you have complete overhead access as the door is rolled up and not stretched out over half the garage. The roll up mechanism is very similar to the type you lready have and they have power roll up doors too. Probably cost more tho.. The vertical siding layout is probably the best option.

Hey man I am doing this in the next month or so, just about the same exact setup. Can you link me to that 18x8 garage door? Also I know they do a cut out for you, is the door a pretty easy install, for the guy they did it?
@YamRida4684 жыл бұрын
C7 Luke it was a local garage company just tell them the size and if you want it insulated or not and they come out and install it for you. But no it’s not bad!

Do you get condensation on the inside that drips down from the roof since it is metal?
@YamRida4684 жыл бұрын
morgan fisher I don’t ever notice it dripping from the roof but if I run the heater for awhile I notice the sides get condensation and windows fog. But other than that no dripping

@@YamRida468 If you're using a propane/ gas heater it will do that in any closed space. Water is a byproduct of burning gas. You can crack the window to let the moisture escape.

@coffey's garage do you not get water under the metal when it rains from rain hitting that cement lift around the edge? I do get some because eagle's advertiser told me that they were recommending to go a ft wider and larger than the building with the slab SMDH.
@YamRida4684 жыл бұрын
mitch david I don’t because I put the lexel silicone around the inside and outside so it stays out! And yeah wanted me to go 6” wider all the way around
