I had an eye surgery a year ago, and before I had gone under, I said “Doktor, turn off my pain inhibitors.” Most of the surgeons were confused about what I said, a few were laughing, then the head surgeon said “OK”. I had never been so terrified in my life.

Monsoon isn't the most complicated character in the game, but his introduction and the sequence that precedes it is the pivotal emotional and thematic moment of the game.

Monsoon legit was posing up like a Jojo character and launching an entire half of the USA military budget at you at Mach 3. All while shredding the absolute SHIT out of a guitar. So hard to not count this as one of my favorite themes in the game.

Love how Moonson and Mistral have just randomly appeared, died, and that's literally all. Every other character has appeared in the story before, but these two just do that. Not only that, but Moonson is probably the only character who you fight right after meeting him. Mistral had at least a brief cutscene and a small level before her, but Moonson? Nope. He fight you right after the cutscene where he first appears and drops this banger on you. What a guy.

You know a game is good when they introduce characters like Monsoon that are insanely memorable but also only show up for maybe 15 - 20 minutes before being cut into pieces by Raiden.

I love how this boss fight served as both a punishment and forceful inauguration into the mechanics and system of the game for anyone who's chosen to neglect it up to this point. Very few developers have the balls to do this with their boss fights anymore, it's not inherently bad to force your players to adhere the play style of the game you crafted, as well as give them no way around it if they haven't. It's called a challenge. Also, I spent like 7 hours trying to beat Monsoon because I was one of these people...

Tl;dr: this song is about crushing apathy generated by past trauma. Also some self help stuff at the end if you happen to need that. Main post: It's clear to me that this song is about trauma. While how one responds to trauma is very different from one person to the next, it has been observed that victim of trauma can be left in a crushing sense of apathy due to their brain not otherwise knowing how to respond to the overload of emotions caused by it. "But there's no memory it's only dry inside/Until it finds my dreams have disappeared" The song starts out just before an emotional breakdown (here I stand beneath the warm and soothing rain, the droplets falling gently down on the terrain, wash away the sorrow, all the stains of time, but there's no memory it's only dry inside.) I believe rainwater is supposed to represent memories in this sense. The singer is calmly reflecting on their past. The rain is soothing, just as the memories are. Now, at this point in the song, the singer is not yet aware of the existence of their trauma, or much rather, their mind is suppressing it. This is why the line "but there's no memory it's only dry inside" is said right after "wash away the sorrow, all the stains of time." Please note that despite the fact that the listener is made aware of these "stains of time," the singer is not thinking about them at this moment, and this line is likely given to paint us a picture of the singer's current emotional state. However, this will quickly change. Suddenly, as the singer calmly recollects, everything that his mind has been holding back starts pouring out in a mental breakdown. This idea is supported by our "memories = rain" analogy. The memories are, so to speak, "flooding back." Slight side note, I believe the word "pain" in "like a flood of pain" was deliberately chosen due to its similarity to the word "rain," down to the fact that "a flood of rain" would make more sense, if in a literal context. It would not be crazy, then, to say that this flood of pain is also a (metaphorical) flood of rain as well, tying once again back to our rain analogy, and supporting the idea that this sudden flood of pain refers to bad suppressed memories. This being said, the line "and it will never rest until the clouds are clear; until it finds my dreams have disappeared" is an absolutely brilliant line tying everything together. Once the "rain" (memories) stop flooding back, the "clouds are clear." (mind is empty) This ties back to apathy and the singer being "dry inside," because once this episode ends, it will likely return to the overwhelming apathy. "Until it finds my dreams have disappeared" is simply a more direct way of saying the same thing, which is why the two lines are both started with the phrase "until," and one is followed up immediately by the other. Moral of the story: get help, guys. I may just be a random commenter writing a theory deciphering song lyrics for an awesome yet admittedly silly videogame, but you all mean a lot to me.
