There are a lot of songs in various soundtracks which do this kind of thing, if you pay attention. Libera Me From Hell TTGL is a more obvious example, and there are a few in Persona and Final Fantasy as well. That's just off the top of my head. It's a really cool concept that I'd love to see utilized more

I kinda don't like how the orchestra is depicted as the Patriots. It really sounds like Snake Eater and it would be cool that the perfect clone of Big Boss has similar silhouette of the past

I got the exact opposite interpretation. I pictured Solidus as the orchestra and The Patriots as the electronic part. I thought of it how you are against Solidus at the beginning before finding out about the Patriots, but still fighting Solidus in the end.

Nick Clark Yeah, they left out the part of the game where he literally drove Arsenal through New York harbor and tore the fuck up the city on the way to city hall. It was too close to 9/11, so they left that scene out of the American localized version.

Well said. MGS2's attention to detail, the beauty of it and the themes it strive for have all held up remarkably well. Most games lack the balls to attempt what MGS2 went for.

I remember when games had manuals. Nice little book that told yea how to play or had awesome art in it. I miss that age were they cared about quality. Still can’t wait for the fire to be rekindled.

+Norman Brown Honestly his role in the later games never really made sense and his role in MGS2 was largely as sort of the commentary on modern gaming storyline and plot design the whole game ultimately was (that games tend to "recycle" plots over and over even if they use different characters, just as Raiden was effectively walking through a simulated recycled MGS1), so his role in plot wasn't very developed. That's why he's only ever brought up when Raiden is involved I think; it's sort of an admission that his relevance is directly related to Raiden himself. He makes even less sense when you see that he doesn't look like Big Boss that much at all and that Snake and Liquid really ARE proper clones and resemble him almost perfectly aside from minor physical differences. However John Cygnan is such a fantastic voice actor that he makes the character hugely memorable. A great voice actor can do wonders for a character.

True. There’s way more history and intrigue with his character. Not to mention his motives were actually really interesting being one of those villains who have better motivations than anyone else.

As a former thinker that Liquid is the better between the two, I wholeheartedly agree. Solidus is more than a villain. He’s not as cut and dry, black and white as liquid. There’s a depth and mystery even to this day about Solidus.

MGS2 is the best one in the series for me, the only people who don't like it are those who were butthurt that Snake was abandoned as the main character for Raiden. Snake is cool and all, but on an emotional and philosophical level, Raiden is far more interesting, whiny bitch or not.

Yes well, Raiden gave wings to the story. Besides Snake is the other main character. I think people are over it nowadays and enjoy the game more-- Happened with some of my friends at least. Oh and this theme and Yell Dead Cell rules.

After Raiden learns about how he was manipulated by The Patriots, he follows his own path, and later on he tries to stop Armstrong from creating child soldiers. His cause is noble, but his methods of achieving it are far from honorable. He goes on killing-spree. attacking mobs of innocent police officers. Solidus wanted to end The Patriots' control over America, making it a truly free land. However, he resorts to terrorism and violence to achieve it. They might be one and the same.

I have a feeling that we will get another Metal Gear rep as dlc but I’m not sure if this track would be added or not. The Solidus spirit battle doesn’t play “Yell dead cell” which is the only mgs2 track in smash. They instead play the “Theme of love remix” that’s actually in mgs4 as a song on the iPod but it first appeared in Brawl. Another spirit battle plays unfitting music which is the Metal Gear Zeke spirit battle which plays the remix of “Encounter” which is from mgs1 but got remixed in Brawl. Why not use the main theme for Peace Walker? They could be holding back for dlc but if that’s the case I’m not sure if a dlc rep would attempt to give music tracks to every game, it would probably focus on mgsv and Peace Walker.
