I played and loved mgs 1 when it came out. Played the demo too. Played it multiple times. Then played mgs2 multiple times. I didn't get to play mgs3 and mgs4 until about 15 years later. I cried at the end of mgs4. Like a child.

Kind of sums up Big Bosses thoughts, prior to MGS he wanted the world at war, the world was moving towards peace and unity and he saw his world coming to an end, In a world of peace what need would there be for Mercenaries like MSF, the Diamond Dogs, Outer Heaven, what need would there be for soldiers who fight for their countries. He foiled the world's attempt at peace and made yet another era of constant warfare, Ahab or Venom Snake was killed in Outer Heaven, and later Big Boss would meet his own end in Zanzibarland. Come the end of MGS4 the Patriots have been defeated, all Snakes except himself, and Solid are dead, and the world is moving along towards peace and this time instead of fighting against it he hugs his son, says his goodbyes to The Boss and has one last Cigar. "This is good.... Isn't it?" Is Big Boss accepting peace for the first time in god knows how long.

I'm not lying when I say this is possibly the most beautiful video game I've ever played. The attention to detail is simply amazing, the gameplay engaging, and the story and it's message are truly heartfelt. I consider this game an achievement in every sense of the word, and Kojima and his team deserve all the praise they've had for it.

My girlfriend didn’t believe me up until the final cutscene played and tears came rolling down my cheeks. This game, with all its quirks and eccentricities, is still a masterpiece that only a certain type of MGS fan can enjoy. I like MGSV, it’s fun, but it pales in comparison to the emotional impact of watching THE Big Boss pass away after an entire lifetime of fighting. It’s fucking beautiful.

I really hope this video never gets taken down. Because it is just so amazing. When you played through each of the games and you see how the characters change and develop it kills you to watch all they go through. Solid and Big Boss are Amazing characters, I really hope that Rising does more to bring Raiden's character out as well.

Everytime I watch this I want to play mgs4. It's definitely one of the best games on these current gen consoles yet relatively under-rated. This video made be look up the song a couple months ago.

Man I remember when you first posted this. I hadn't beaten the game yet so I refused to watch it, but when I finally beat it I came here and boy did you capture every important part of the game in this 8 minute video. A few years later I can still watch this and re-live the story of this game without having to replay through hours of gameplay :)

My favorite game in the entire series. I cried so hard at the end of it. I cried for Naomi, Liquid/Ocelot, Big Boss, The Boss, and most of all I cried for Snake. Never has a game made me feel as emotional as Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots did. You have earned your rest Snake. Be at peace old friend.

This is a perfect game not to mention game series. I grew up with this series. Played 4 beat it and it damn near had me tearing up throughout the whole game. Hideo Kojima you are a God among men in the video game industry.

It´s been to long since I palyed thru MGS 4. To bad I lost some limbs required to do it well since last time. Which, in a way, makes me feel even more connected to Venom Snake in MGS 5. Which, fortunatly I can play on PC. I dont need all my fingers for that.

My friends say MGS series is a series that u play once and your done. MGS is a series that youll play over and over again espeically 4. Right now I've beaten it 4 times since February 10th and will never stop loving it :)

Best game series I ever played. The Metal Gear Solid series will forever have a place in gaming history and i seriously doubt any other game or series will ever come close in terms of combining story and gameplay as well as these games did.

to think about it, the METAL GEAR SOLID series is one of the best ever made. im saddened to see snake's story end. he is a legend, and will be remembered. The MGS series is definetly my favorite. i remember i was 8 or 9, and my bro and me would play MGS 1&2 all night. good memories.

I love this video especially at the end. I find it hard to swallow when I see Big Boss telling his son to 'forget about us'. And I found it especially hard when he couldn't light the cigar by himself. Personally, If I were in Snake's position, even though I probably didn't like Big Boss as much, from all the crap that we went through, I wouldn't want to forget him.

For that it will be forever and ever remembered as one of the best game series that ever existed. It had it all a begining, its prime, its intended ending a callback and an afterlife, spinoffs, good and bad, great characters, a wtf story, enough story and whatnot to make 10 blockbusters, with enough drama and heart to make even stood men drop a tear. May it rest in peace, never to be forgotten.

I played the other mgs games when iwas young....i never played 3 though. But this game is the best game ever made by a landslide. I came into this with a sparse knowledge of the series and loved the game. What you feel by the end is unexplainable. If u have a ps3 GET THIS GAME!

Very nice. Captures the theme and feel of the plot very well. I love that the man who damned Snake to an eternity of battle and warfare was, in the end, the one to return and release him from that cycle. Even if he doesn't have long... his life is his own now. THAT's the ending Solid Snake deserves.

I cry with each Metal Gear game.... Metal Gear saved my life.... It inspired me to be a writer.... I love you Snake, I love you Metal Gear, I love you Hideo Kojima. You're so amazing, so talented and creative. So inspirational. Metal Gear is so important to me, one of the few things I actually have in this life of hospitals and pain that I must endure with Sickle Cell, Metal Gear, is always there for me. I love you, sooo much.

Just completed mgs4 for the third time, this time on 'big boss extreme difficulty. It is without a doubt the greatest and most emotionally involving game of all time.The only other game that comes near to this truly epic game is MGS1.. Long Live Solid Snake..

I don't know where people get the idea that Metal Gear is a Playstation title. The only Playstation exclusives that comes to my mind are Portable Ops and MGS4. MG1: MSX, NES; MG2: MSX, NES; MGS: PSone, PC and GC remake, MGS2: PS2, Xbox, PC, and the HD edition for PS3, 360 and VITA; MGS3: PS2, 3DS remake and the HD editions; MGS (Ghost Babel): GBC exclusive; MGS:PW: HD editions (minus VITA). A little bit over 20% of the aforementioned games are Playstation exclusives.
