A remake won't give us that warm, fuzzy feeling when we start up MGS. You can't replace nostalgia.

This game changed all games forever. After I played MGS1 I remember trying to sneak around all enemies in games but they would know I was in the area. The next year it seemed like all the games imitated MGS1 from that point. MGS is the best franchise ever.

I agree 99%. The 1% is the part where you say you don't want a remake. No it won't be the same and no it won't be as good, but there are tons of new fresh ideas you can breathe into it. TTS had a few, but there are potentially tons.

i think the graphics added the the haunting feeling the game left someone, as with the music etc.

This song plays in the Briefing Menu. All those movie files such as Hostages and Next Generation Special Forces Unit Foxhound.

In all fairness The Twin Snakes isn't bad. It's a fresh take on a classic. The problem is that the original is already perfect so there's no possible improvement.

Well Holy shit. I played Metal gear solid back in the ps2 days.. never got my hands on mgs1 tho, just beat it yesterday and...wow. the tone of that game is incredible.. gameplay is a little bit annoying at times but still, what an experience.

This is just dripping with atmosphere. I honestly think people give Kojima way too much credit. The artists and composers are what really make MGS an amazing experience, in my opinion anyway.

I think I heard it once when I saw the intro before the main menu, but it only ran for like 2-3 minutes and I barely remember it, but I notice it now

Part of the song is used im sure but most of it is not theres a bit near the start of the song where it sounds like someone is breathing and you can here the smashed door that wont open. That is used when you are down in the gas room with the nikita missile.

they already did a remake its called twin snakes and the cutscenes are to hollywood for my tastes

I been a fan of metal gear since playing the game on the SNES. Metal gear on ps1 blew my mind as a kid too see it come to 3d, the series keeps getting better and better. A remake is needed "not twin snakes" a real remake would be amazing and i think somebody will remake it with same dialogue and original voice acting remastered!!

I agree, especially about the original games being remade, with Hideo's close attention and care, or at least re-released again. I have the special edition of subsistence, with both games and the existence disc, they are actually great games, the second one definitely pushed the difficulty up. Anyway what I mean is if you ever get a chance to play them, don't pass it up.

@PineappleAlex It wasn't PS3 graphics, it was made somewhere between Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater. But the graphics were still pretty damn good.

That's true, gameplay and graphics would be great but they should make something new (what they are doing now) and not repeat the same thing. We need a new storyline, new characters, new areas to infiltrate and explore. Seeing this game in a modern version would destroy the image of the original.

Can someone help me out? I’m looking for a MGS song that sounds similar to Discovery (especially the 1:00-1:20 part) but continues to build up and gets more intense. I heard it a decade ago and I think it only lasted for a minute and a half to two minutes.

@PineappleAlex Accoding to Kojima it's possible to go through the game and not kill a soul. It's meant to be Tactical Espionage Action it's just fast paced for the ninja. You have to gather energy from internal batteries from enemies and such but there is a lot of sneaking apparently.

Actually, it's not impossible. All the informations given in the rest of the serie could add a lot to the scenarii of those two games. I agree. Remakes of these two with the controls of MGS4, that could be great!

The start sounds like metroid for the NES.

This song gave you a sense of PURPOSE in MGS. You were going to go KILL HIM! With BARE HANDS! NAKED!!!! The music pumped you up even before you set foot on the dang island. The music in MGS4 turned me into an emo instead. :'(

OMG ! I love this game, best gameplay, best themes, best plot and storyline, the best in the saga and fuck all the rest. My fav. PSone version is the best in the world of gun killing games. p.s. Metal Gear Solid Movie to come 2010 with this kick ass storyline -

Because it was essentially the same game...even though the voice acting wasn't as good, and I think it was inferior to the original, despite the graphical and gameplay upgrades.
