Horror Mike takes a good look at the revolutionary sci-fi, horror, and fantasy illustrated magazine Metal Hurlant, issue number One, January, 1975.
This first issue of Metal Hurlant which would later be pubished as Heavy Metal magazine in north america, is illustrated by comic book artists and illustrators Moebius, Richard Corben, Jean-Claude Gal, and Philippe Druillet with stories by Jean-Pierre Dionnet, published by Les Humanoides Associes aka the Associated Humanoids which consisted of Bernard Farkas, Moebius, Dionnet, and Druillet.
Highly recommended book recently published by Metal Hurlant called "Metal Hurlant: 1975 to 1984" is 290 pages long and lavishly illustrated with some of the best stories from Metal Hurlant / Heavy Metal from that period.

Thank you very much for the fond memories of the early days of Metal hurlant. I truly enjoyed all of these videos and the great memories of the early days of heavy metal Magazine. It was such a refreshing change from American superhero comic books, and had all kinds of stories in there that was very imaginative. This is a great tribute to a wonderful era. I hope you make some more videos about this subject matter

This bound volume lends itself well to video presentations. For one thing you don't have to worry about lowering mag condition by handling the bound volume. I can see picking up a bound volume for a low price, but there's no way I'm paying someone big bucks to mutilate, and devalue, my mags and comics by having them bound. Your good coverage of Metal Hurlant/Heavy Metal continues!

@@horrormike I don't understand your response. Are you upset because I expressed my opinion about not wanting to have my books bound? As I stated, I see nothing wrong with buying books that are already bound at a good price, which you did by your statement. I commend you on a good job with the video, and then I get this puzzling response. Regardless of whether or not a person cares about condition or value, a book (comic or mag) is an asset which may need to be sold at some point. Overlooking this simple fact is foolish.

@@michaeldodd6902 The problem is that you seem to think that I'm a collector, I am not. I'm a filmmaker. This channel was kicked into gear because of Haunted Thrills, nothing else. You think that bound issues are "mutilated" or somehow substandard as you like to say everytime I bring out a bound issue. Not only do I completely disagree, I could care less. Go boohoo someone else's books who gives a shit.

Phillip druillet absolutely killed his parts in this book!!’ Hell Moebius did as well!!! Is it just me or does he have a similar color style to Richard Corben ?? His color work on This book if you hadn’t told me I would say it was Corben 🤷🏽‍♂️

Jacob, there is no doubt that Moebius and Druillet were huge Corben fans years before Metal Hurlant came out, so it is quite possible that in the coloring, some of that Corben magic rubbed off on Moebius!
