Hey Sir, appreciate the video, could you please do a video on different note groupings within time signitures, I never land on the note I want to at the time I want to. Thanks again.

Very cool video. As like you, I transpose my theory from a piano perspective onto all other instruments while playing. Anytime I think of theory, I always picture a piano! I've never heard anyone explain all these things back to back and then implement it for metal. I feel this is a need for the community!

Thanks, Lee! I do the same thing a lot of the time. Glad you enjoyed it and I'm excited to keep going with the series!

I enjoyed this video a lot - I've been looking at some basic theory over the last year in an attempt to make metal music and how I play guitar make more sense. Thanks!

Nice! Well structured with a lot of information. If this was a live class I'd probably be overwhelmed but since I have the option to rewind its all good! Thank you for this lesson :D

Thanks! This is basically a semester of an Intro to Music Theory course condensed into 20 mins haha. The one thing you don't get is being forced to write out all your scales by hand on staff paper many times, but it's a good idea!

I'm a big fan of the chromatic scale 🤘

and besides writing totally chromatic riffs, it's a great way to spice up tonal keys!

@@poison_corpse3140 there's no shortcut to writing good riffs, but practicing scales and learning riffs you like will get you there with enough perseverance! I do plan on doing videos on how I go about writing and coming up with ideas that I hope will help

@@NickLeonard Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is the most popular example however there is so much potential. Just using Bach, you could change some harmonics and play with the speeds. In the end its just Mathematics. Bach is the Ultimate Metal Lord

15:43 One thing I don't understand is when you play the repeated 1 2 3 intervals you play D E F But the low notes substituted for the chord changes you play E B C A. If youre playing a repeated 1 2 3 as melody and the 1 is D doesn't that mean you're playing in the key of D minor, but in D minor 1 5 6 4 isn't E B C A for the low notes (chord changes) Please help me understand.
@NickLeonard Жыл бұрын
I thought that might be a bit confusing. I'm playing in Drop C (it does say at the beginning of the tab, but it's easy to miss). So the melody is C D Eb (key of C minor) and the chords are C/G/Ab/F or i/v/VI/iv
