This song is basically a letter of gratitude and understanding to Mozart. The emotion is born of the beauty of his music and the madness in his head. I love the way they have the rockets on the screen behind surging upward in the first half of the song, then spiraling downward in the second half, representing his great accomplishments as well as the self destructive nature behind the genius. As a recovering addict the symbolism really resonates with me. The power and emotion of this song blow me away every time. Its the greatest tribute imaginable.

In the end of this performance all other singers and musicians joined the choir on stage. Magic. This is my absolute favorite song (this specific live) for many years. IMHO it s probably one of the best build up ever wrote and the last part is just a testimony of why Anneke is considered by many old metalhead as the grandmother of symphonic metal

And when you, like what happened to me, get seriously enchanted by Anneke, check out "the gentle storm with "the storm". Live versions of course. Or Devin Townsend with Anneke with the song "grace" . Live again. This absolutely in every aspect gorgious lady is the grandmother Goddess of almost all famous female metal singers of today. She inspired a lot of now famous people. She made beautifull solo songs as well. Don't forget to check her performances with Ayreon from Arjen Lucassen. That rabbit hole is a life changer. You will not regret it. Never thought I could fall in love with a KZfaq singer. But man, she is something.

Anneke has one of the GREAT voices of the past 30 years . In common with a lot of musicians and vocalists that have come out of Holland since the 70s ( and there has been some brilliant stuff which is well worth checking out ) she is a performer that doesn't get nearly the kudos she deserves . The fact that she began in the early 90s and is still going strong today is testament to her enduring appeal . As well as the Gathering and her solo work she regularly appears in Ayreon productions and in the last year has toured with Marko Hietala ( ex Nightwish ) and Floor Jansen ( Nightwish ) . This song in common with several of The Gathering's songs is a wonderful soundscape with Anneke's voice acting as another instrument . As others have mentioned I'd check out " Strange Machines " Live from Pinkpop in 1996 - you'll see a younger Anneke and it will hopefully show you why she was Floor Jansen's inspiration ENJOY !

The gathering is a great band with many great albums (with Anneke as singer) Anneke is the godmother of dutch female metal singers like Floor Jansen, Simone Simons etc. Anneke often performs on Ayreon albums and in all three Ayreon live concerts. I would advice you to first listen the song: The day that the world brakes down, official video to learn to know the ‘band’. This song is without Anneke but with Floor and Simone. Then listen to the live concerts: Ayreon universe live. With Floor and Anneke. The electric castle live and other tales. With Simone and Anneke.

Anneke is one of the best Dutch female metal (or any genre she likes to sing in) singers in the Netherlands. She is the godmother of female fronted metal or prog bands. She`s still active, is also involved in the solo tour of Floor Jansen (female Dutch singer in Nightwish) Anneke`s sound is very relaxing.....in any song she sings...... metal, classic or whatever she does.
