I have never really done much editing in my life, but I remember having a similar problem with rendering videos using the wrong settings, but the bigger problem was that I was using sony vegas which is terrible, not only are there tens of format options to choose from when you render stuff, but it is terribly categorized (in my opinion) and on top of that vegas really likes to crash. Fortunately I was only making some short meme videos otherwise I would go insane.

This reminds me of when I first made a longer video on this channel with a video about Blade Assault, where I used a completely different editting program back then, and it was a complete nightmare to work with. It forced you to use a completely different program to even add subtitles, and the subtitles often looked different than in the preview, and having to switch programs also meant that it was likelier to crash outright. Overall spent like, I think, 12 hours to make that one video, because after rendering it multiple times, it still didnt have some effects that I wanted to see, which forced me to try another editting program, and luckily I'm stuck with that one till today, because its actually usable

@@NeedHealer I once spent 6 hours masking out a person just to find out ,that after the render masks on the frames did not match the masks on the preview. I later found out that it was my fault because I chose a wrong type of transition between the frames, but still the fact that it looked normal in the preview and then no matter how I rendered it, it was broken pissed me off.

@@Łukasz-Nowok Masking in editting is probably one circle of hell, so I can imagine that spending 6 hours on something, only to discover that the preview was lying all along, would be probably one of the biggest gut punches you could get. Especially if it was just like a minute long meme video, that'd just make it x10 worse
