Dimash has done a lot of great work in China. After “I Am Singer” he worked there for two years on a record deal. He produced an album called “ID” that went triple-platinum in under a minute. You’ve heard a couple of songs from that album in the Almaty concert, and there will be a couple more performed. One album song that is not included in the concert is “War and Peace.” It’s a rock song that he composed the music for, and had someone else write the lyrics in Chinese. I think you’ll really like it. The best version imo is from his digital concert. During the pandemic, he recorded a concert with no audience, for charity. It was very reasonably priced, and amazing! There’s a playlist on his official KZfaq channel and you can find a performance of “War and Peace” with subtitles. I would also highly recommend “Across Endless Dimensions” from that same digital show. It was from the soundtrack of a film produced in Italy called “Creators, The Past.” Unfortunately the film was released during the pandemic, so it didn’t get a lot of attention. But Dimash sings the closing song on the soundtrack, and it is epic; also rock style. And it’s in English, not Italian.

After getting his masters in music, the local opera house offered him a position but he turned it down. He wanted to sing something he called neo-classic. When he went to “I Am Singer”, he was supposed to only be there for two episodes. The competition was only for professional singers. Dimash opened the show with “S.O.S.” He won that episode. He was so good they decided to keep him for the rest of the competition! He had so many fans, that they had to get him bodyguards. He was the youngest performer at 22, he was the first non-Chinese allowed to compete and the first amateur to compete. The other competitors called him their “ imported younger brother”. He stayed in China for almost three years. He was a guest performer and he also competed on other shows. The Chinese people love Dimash. He went back to China to another competition but unfortunately, he really got sick and had to return home before it was over. He was there this year just to perform on a few shows. It was a Chinese coach who said that Dimash does not sing in falsetto, that is his natural voice. Dimash did not lose his high notes when puberty hit like most young men. He kept his notes. There were times when he had to sing with the girls at school because there were not enough girls. His mother is an opera singer, maybe her genes had something to do with the fact he kept his high notes. Dimash came from a loving and strong home life! In Kazakhstan culture, the first born son is raised by their grandparents. Dimash’s grandmother quit her job as a teacher to raise him. It really didn’t matter much anyway because they all lived in the same house. Plus the rest of the family and close friends were there visiting often and after dinner the grownups would sit around the table and sing. The Kazakhs have a musical culture. His sisters sings but she wants to be a doctor. His younger brother plays several instruments and composes music. He is still in school, he’s only 16years old. I think that coming from that large and loving family is what makes Dimash Dimash humble. He’s not out there trying to prove something! He’s just sharing his love of music with his fans. 😊

This has always been one of my favourites. So much more than the duet version. He's always struggled with Chinese, luckily in 2021 when he went back most of his team members on Shine Super Brothers could speak English and his English had improved so much that he was able to cope without a translator. One of the guys could even speak Kazakh. There's video footage on the minibus where Dimash is talking about his initial difficulty in China with both the language and the food!
