Sinful Passion For those who like information about Dimash's songs: The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash reinvigorated the song (originally this song was sung in two octaves and Dimash takes it to 5 Octaves Vocal range). In addition, he added the final part, with a guttural oriental technique (where he makes a particular sound by rapidly vibrating his voice, and with this voice he looks up and then points his hand down because he was honoring the original singer of whom he was a fan) . The song was originally performed in 1998 and the name of the band is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakh pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", Almaty city). The late singer (of whom Dimash was a fan) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by poet Ilia Reznik along with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the long-haired keyboard player, which we see in Dimash's accompanying video. In this 2018 presentation, Dimash meets the famous Ukrainian-Russian composer, pianist and billionaire Igor Krutoy, who is the man in the white shirt in the first final who stands up to applaud him and who was retired and who returned from retirement because of Dimash, since he was the voice that he had always been waiting for his music, from there began a friendship and collaboration of many more successes with Dimash- Greetings from Panama.

I did not know that this was how Igor met Dimash. I knew he came put of retirement for him, and that is amazing, to know this where it started is just mind blowing. They are such a power team and I love their music.

One of the techniques you heard is called zhoktau. It’s that incredible vocal run. It’s not in the original song, but was included in this particular arrangement. Zhoktau is an ancient Kazakh vocal style used for lamentations. It’s done in tribute to one of the original Group A Studio musicians, their vocalist, Batyrkhan Shukenov, who originally sang this song. Batyrkhan Aga passed away at the age of 52.

That traditional type of singing is a tribute to the original singer who has passed away, I am not sure what it’s called, but in your Dimash journey you will most likely hear it again. I love how you immediately caught on to the fact that Dimash was vocally becoming a violin, he quite often does things like that, which is wonderful. I absolutely love your Dimash reactions, the sincere appreciation for what he is doing is great. I am also really glad that you are watching the videos about Dimash, they have so much information about Dimash and there’s even a really silly one, obviously he takes music very seriously, but he has a great sense of humor. I love the richness of his baritone range as well. Thank you John, you just made my Saturday night , love to everyone from a North Carolina Dear ❤.

Glad you reacted to this Dimash masterpiece. A few things. The yodel/trill is a traditional Kasac/central Asian technique. It is used in mourning and it wasDimash’s tribute to the leader of A-Studio who passed away. They wrote this song and accompanies Dimash in this performance. Another thing, the gentleman in the white shirt who stands up to applaud Dimash is Igor Krotoy a famous Russian composer who, upon seeing Dimash, came out of retirement to write music specifically for him( Olimpico, Stranger and others)

I loved your reaction to this song.🎶💜🎶 The original by AStudio was a rock/pop song done about 25 years ago. Dimash kept most of the lyrics, slightly rearranged, to create this sexy intimate song. I love Dimash in his deeper full male voice. 💐💐💐He uses his voice to imitate many instruments. Dudak, electric guitar etc in other songs. You are the first person I have seen to comment or notice that. 🫶🫶🫶 Great reaction as always. 🩵🥰🥰 Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

Hi John, Thank you for this great reaction. 👍😊 If you really want to be speechless, you should definitely check out Dimash's original THE STORY OF ONE SKY, an MV. Dimash worked on this piece for three years. Also, he wrote the script for it as well, because it's more of a short film than an MV. Absolutely everything is right in this masterpiece: the composition, the text or the message and Dimash's unbelievable vocal performance. Everyone should definitely see and hear this MV. His song EL AMOR EN TI is also an original composition and a masterpiece. I look forward to your reactions to this. 🤗

In the case of Dimash, the more we learn about him, the more our admiration grows. I have a suggestion for one of your next reaction, a very recent live performance of Dimash's own composition, "El Amor en Ti" from the Almaty concert. It is also Dimash's first song in Spanish.

Love your enthusiasm for Dimash! It is a eastern musical technique akin to a yodel, but based on a traditional lament (I believe typically sung by women but I can’t be sure). Dimash has expressed his desire to combine styles and to introduce audiences to traditional Kazakh culture as well. Cheers from Canada!

Dimash is an undiscovered treasure yet...there are so many things to learn and appreciate about him...from everything I've seen on KZfaq ( concerts...reactions from vocal coaches, musicians or simple people who don't have the music , as a job ), I realize that we are dealing with aphenomenon, which is gaining momentum among the world's population... more and more people are hearing about Dimash and want to listen to his voice and performance... we have to admit that Dimash is unique, both on stage and off it... I'm very happy that a girl from Romania (where I'm from) was invited by Dimash on stage to perform the chorus of a song and he was so delighted by her voice that he applauded her... Dimash is a example to follow.

The unique section of vocals is, I believe, called "melisma," a Middle East technique based on the fact that they "express" different parts of the notes. He had a Middle Easten friend who had passed away a year before this performance, so the melisma was in honor of that friend.. Thank you for your wonderful and insightful reactions! I love people who love Dimash! You are a dear Dear.

Thank you for your great reaction. These middle easter sound he does in one or another song. It’s really awesome. The thing with the flowers has something to do with respect for the artist. It's a cultural thing. The audience listens to a performance without yelling or screaming that the artist can no longer be heard. No sound may be missing. In return, they then shower Dimash with flowers and gifts. That's the norm there. He then always donates the flowers to hospitals, retirement homes or similar institutions. And I love his outfit. It's just great. Like James Bond🥰. The Triangle-guy’s name is Ilya Pokrovskiy and he is a great percussionist and plays in Dimash's band at his concerts. You should see the drumms duels between the two at the end of every concert. 23 seconds in one breath with riffs and runs. Unbelievable. He sang this song on the New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2018. This is an international contest for young performers founded by Igor Krutoy in 2002. Dimash sang here as a guest. The musicians who accompany him are called A-Studio. It's a Kazakh band that wrote this song in 1998. However, Dimash sang it differently. And in my opinion much better 😄. This song was in Russian, a language he speaks fluently. The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. He always thanks his musicians. He is incredibly humble and never acts like a star. When he is praised, he constantly says that it is thanks to his teachers and his parents, who made it all possible for him. He’s just incredible. In this case he thanked the band A-Studio. It’s a Kazakh band who wrote this song. However, Dimash sang it differently. And in my opinion, much better 😄. If you like some really great fancam versions then I recommend the one from the Moscow concert: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q958m9qXq6y5gac.html Or another one from the Arnau concert: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j7B1n6p5l87Vpas.html They are all a bit different Please react next to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance is my absolute favourite🥰. I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I have gasping breath all the time. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so demanding and so commanding😱. There he is such a Beast😳! It’s absolutely stunning. Gasping and racing heart and I’m not even talking about him singing. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtGAhpmlnZrVl2g.html Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

Love this performance and your reaction to it! I’ve watched a lot of videos of vocal coaches trying to explain what Dimash does with his voice near the end, and none of them agree on what it’s called! Out of curiosity, I made a list - take your pick!: Bleating, hammer/impact vibrato, ululation, goat/glottal trill, glottal stop technique/folk flutter yodel/a chord’s tremolo/Tarzan effect, throat staccato, mugam in Azeri/Turkic style or ‘Yakutian’ riff (according to Kanat, Dimash’s father), Kazakh mourning style called ‘zhoktau, glottal bleat, caprino (Italian for little goat) trill, goat’s wiggle, Western throat singing, machine gun vibrato ...and so on

Dimash always surprises with his vocal techniques. sometimes even vocal teachers cannot determine exactly how he did this or that thing))) in a recent performance at a concert in Yerevan (Armenia), he performed a song in Armenian (which he learned in a few hours) and at the end reproduced the sound of the Armenian folk instrument "duduk" in VOICE, it was incredible and also watched the analysis of this performance, the coaches do not understand how he did it and what vocal technique applied

Watch the song "Stranger" live performance in China. There, Dimash improvises a lot in this technique. It is also used in the song "The Story of One Sky." Be sure to watch the video for this song. Dimash created it for three years and invested a lot of effort, work, emotions

Catching the emotion within the performance 💓💗❤️❤️‍🔥🫠 Most reactors just miss the point or are 2 🐓 2 say 🤣😂🤣💦 This is just down right yummy 🥰 I’m speaking as true loving spouse 😘 I think Dimash is a very brave performer to sing a man’s desire 😍💓💗💖💝 SO DANG WELL‼️ The 2nd To Last 🌬 🎶 run was over 22 seconds ⏱ He Swims 🏊🏻‍♂️ Everywhere For Breath Control “Vocal Athlete”🥇 The “Fast Tremolo” is a “Dimash interpretation” of his Culture’s 🎶 Traditions ❤ The song is by “A'Studio” 1998 They are “Some Of The Band Mates” preforming with Dimash 🎹🎸🤩 The gentleman standing in the audience in the white shirt is “Maestro Igor Krutoy”✨🎹✨🎼 He's a Ukrainian & Russian music composer, performer, producer, musical promoter & billionaire. Very famous‼️🌟🇺🇦🇷🇺 He came “Out of Retirement” to work with Dimash. When you see him at the 🎹 with Dimash you can bet he’s the composer and or collaborator of that song. Dimash has trained, not only in classical vocal techniques, and musical theatre, and every form of contemporary genre, but also in many traditional forms of vocalisation. That 'trill' or 'melisma' section was not only a surprise to all listeners, but a surprise to the A- Studio band as well. This is a traditional Kazakh mourning vocalisation, ( I think fairly common to that region - not only in Kazakhstan ) that Dimash inserted this here as a mark of his respect to the original lead singer of this band, Batyrkhan Shukenov, who has since passed. Batyrkhan and the Pianist; Baigali, whom you see here, composed / first performed Sinful Passion back in 1998. Dimash has, as always, put his own unique spin on it. Yes- a number of people have commented on Dimash's ability to make his voice sound like a violin or even electric guitar*. [ Have a look at his Music Video / Movie Trailer; 'Across Endless Dimensions' * Just a note on choosing his LIVE performances. These are always 'extra', but there are a few where it's important to view the video first. 'Be With Me' is another, 'Okay'' also, and of course the phenomenal "Under One Sky', where the music/ his voice is, as always, stunningly impressive, but background. Here the vision is FAR more important, as it is not a 'Music Video', but a Mini-Movie with a Maxi-Message. Enjoy!

For those who like information about Dimas' songs: Sinful Passion - The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. Moreover, in the final part he added, with an oriental technique (from the Kazakhstan region). The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band name is A'Studio (Kazakh pop music group based in Russia, "Alma-Ata Studio", Almaty city). The dead singer (who Dimash was a fan of) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poetess Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the long-haired keyboardist, who we see in the video that accompanies Dimash. Hugs from Brazil! It is called "caprino", John, a goat-like sound, in translation from Italian. However, that whole piece was an asiatic funeral chant, which Dimash added to the arrangement, and it was done in memory of the original singer of this song, who was a lead singer of the 'Group "A" Studio' band that was performing with him on stage that night.

John, Thank you so much for your reaction, great as always. If you're curious about what Dimash sounds like in classical opera voice there is a wonderful song called Ti Amo Cosi where he sings with Lara Fabian and Aida Garifullina. The occasion is Igor Krutoys 65th Birthday Celebration, and there was surely no expense spared.
