Mayu the vocalist have been on the scene for years but under different stage name (Sindy) while she with LIPSTICK band and never actually uses her vocal ability to the max until she is with NEMOPHILA. Saki the guitarist is the most celebrated female metal guitarist in Japan; also lead the AMAHIRU project with Kreator bassist which also consist of Fear Factory drummer and Epica keyboardist to name a few. Murata Tamu the drummer is currently the most sought-after session drummer and for years she had been in the background of many shows/bands; one of the best versatile drummer in Japan covering vast genres from jazz to metal. It was Murata Tamu that connects Mayu and Haraguchi-san with SAKI and Hazuki. NEMOPHILA is a Tokyo-based Japanese metal band formed in August 2019, was introduced as "Super Girls Metal Band" on their official debut in September 2019 at the METAL WEEKEND 2019, Zepp Diver City, Tokyo, where the band opened up for heavy metal legends, LOUDNESS and HAMMERFALL. No one could argue with the title "Super Girls Metal Band" as all the band members are no strangers to Japanese rock/metal scene with several decades of experience between them; and individually regarded as a reputable seasoned musician. NEMOPHILA started out as session band and supposed to be a one-off session as the "Mayu Session" band and as the name implies, it was assembled by Mayu (ex-LIPSTICK) who approached her school friend, Haraguchi-san (ex-HöLDERLINS bassist). They later made contact with Murata Tamu (ex-SORAMIMI) since Mayu wanted to have her for a session. Murata Tamu who is very well-known session drummer agreed. Mayu can't play guitar well so Murata Tamu contacted SAKI (Mary's Blood & AMAHIRU, ex-Destrose). SAKI then bring along Hazuki, whom she knew since Hazuki was in Disqualia that consists of SAKI's ex-band mate Destrose. Hazuki that time also work as a support guitarist for Li-sa-X project so she agreed for a session. SAKI said "In the early summer of 2019, mayu contacted us because she was looking for musicians for a session band. Some of the members didn’t know each other yet, but this proved to be no problem. All the members hit it off immediately, so we decided to continue working together as a band. Not just because of the personalities of all the members. I also had the idea that my favorite music could be enhanced in this band". From that moment, NEMOPHILA was born and when NEMOPHILA emerges, Japan's metal scenes know they meant business. Their sound is heavy since Saki & Hazuki are using 7 strings guitars. Haraguchi-san is using 5 strings bass. Murata Tamu is still using double pedals 🤭 ...with most adorable smile but don't be fooled by that as she is one fierce drummer. Mayu might have another set of lungs to accommodate her banshee-like 'thunder throat'. NEMOPHILA is insanely tight as a band; the precision with which they all play is the standard with which all artists should strive to do. Even with how technically superior they are to so many other bands, they haven’t forgotten what’s most important, to have fun. Watch how much fun they are having on stage while they perform their first single OIRAN at live streaming event "SHOW-YA produced NAON no YAON 2021" as their opening song here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z5-GhJyl0L3Po4U.html ...in this event, the trio of "Super Girls Metal Band" NEMOPHILA members are on multiple act with Murata Tamu on double duty, filling in as a drummer for Gacharic Spin (their drummer Yuri was on pregnant that time) while SAKI and Hazuki are on triple acts with their other band Mary's Blood and Li-sa-X Band respectively; and both featured for Guitar Girls Collection special performance. Mayu also appeared again for Vocalist collaboration show with other singers for legendary Japanese songs medley. Haraguchi-san said "During our live performances, we want to take the songs to a higher level than on the recorded versions. That is not easy and we are aware of that, but it is something important. Our live shows are energetic, which may cause us to play violently at times!" So yes, definitely check out OIRAN live ...and watch Haraguchi-san, the bassist closely 😁 also you can hear the real banshee-like screaming vocals from mayu without any added post-production distortions effects 🤘🏻

Nemophila is a band formed in 2019, but actually each of their members is from a different band, And they are diverse, each song has different sound, Two guitarists: Saki(from Mary’s Blood) and hazuki(from lisa-X band) are very well knows female guitarists in Japan, drummer murata tamu has collaborated with many singers and bands,and she also a solo drummer , the singer mayu(ex-Lipstick) with a highly recognizable scream and beautiful voice. haraguchi(ex-Hölderlins) is the happiest bassist I have ever seen😜 Maybe check out《oiran》live 2021 next?🌸🔥🤘🏻

much better actually in my opinion. Personally I don't like the filter used for the scream vocals on Dissension and I really hope they didn't use that too much on the coming album! I think it kinda sucks the power out of Mayu's scream.

@@NewAeonWarlord Totally agree. Another trick that studio executives seem to insist upon, is around the third released CD, when the vocalist voice has matured and improved since earlier days, is to add excessive vocal electronic tweaks. This totally destroys for many songs, the quality of the singers voice. I think it is carried out in a pathetic and vain attempt to woo American audiences and thus increased sales.

they are the real thing. although some kind of supergroup, they are still on the rise. fantastic band. they have made a lot of excellent coversongs ( kiss, ac/dc, iron maiden, misfits, helloween, japan X, linkin park, baby metal, bon jovi, maximum the hormone, moetley crue, pink, skid row ). but their new own stuff like "Oiran", "Raitei", "Revive" or "Hypnosis" is even better. and when drummer tamu came back from the birth of her second baby, they wrote the song "life" for her and her newborn. their rendition facing the drums can make hearts melt .this band is to them like a family. great reaction. thank you.

You should absolutely check out a live video of their's and I suggest the song "Oiran" live at Naon no Yaon 2021. Shows the contagious fun these ladies have playing together and more of what Mayu can really do live and unfiltered (which I personally think actualy sounds better than what they did with the vocal recordings for the studio version of Dissension)!

This is one of the bands to watch, no question. They just started in 2019 and are blowing up fast. As you can see from the gang vocals, they don't take themselves too seriously-Hazuki even winks. They almost seem to be enjoying a private joke, that goes "Hi, we're a bunch of cute, fun girls and we are going to rip your face off, and you are going to like it.” Nemophil-a (NOT “Nemophil-i-a) were founded in 2019. They are a supergroup composed of: Mary's Blood guitarist Saki ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki (also plays with Lisa-X) ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and ex-Soramimi drummer Muratatam (also does other projects) Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized Mayu with some help from Saki. They started off posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. Then they began posting originals, starting with “Oiran” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m9-SZbGltd3HqJc.html The viral reaction seems to have convinced them they were onto something potentially big, so they’ve been putting a lot more work into it, including some successful live-streams and an appearance at the annual Japanese female rock festival NAONのYAON. They tend toward hard and heavy, but also do ballads and some pop covers. Drummer Murata Tamu took time off to give birth to her son, and on her return, the rest of the bandmembers gave her a welcome back that resulted in an extremely moving moment captured on live stream: “Life” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fqyeeLyZx6uloZs.html After Oiran, others to check include “Raitei”, which means “Thunder” in Japanese, and yes, they bring the thunder: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/os5dl7l9sLaXYWg.html Saki is the only one who had been with a breakout band before (Mary’s Blood); Hazuki and Murata-tamu are also considered elite musicians and have worked with a lot of other top artists. Hara-san is the youngest but is clearly a great talent and has been developing in front of our eyes. And of course Mayu is quickly establishing herself as a one of the world’s best metal vocalists. Nemophila’s youtube channel: kzfaq.info/love/voAeGZoC8giXP59NOZABIAvideos If you haven’t already, another band frequently suggested after Nemophila is Hanabie. Try “We Love Sweets” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fZdorNyntanNhIE.html

Great to have someone new be requested Nemophila. It is particularly refreshing when the reactor is aware that the music video is using studio audio. When possible when recommanding a new act, I always suggest a live song. Unfortunately the 'rabid' fans that make 100's of requests always go for the MV's and my request gets buried. The very last way you said the bands name was correct say it as its spelt .LOL another reactor falls to its a filter on Mayu's vocals LOL that's all her she is very talented and can sing in many ways the studio version has compression on it and cleaned up in the usual way .Having seen several live online concerts by them i can say Mayu can switch from the screams to clean like a switch for close on 2 hours .As for the rest well there all world class there guitar work only matched by the two from love Bites .Drummer Tamu is one of the very best in the world right now and Right Guitar Saki as you look is Guitar royalty in japan .Go look at some of there live videos on there YT channel .First full album out in 6 days time "Revive" up to now EP's and the CD Oiran extended edition a collection of singles done for the western fans .In the short time they have been a band they have risen like a rocket both in Japan and the west . 12 originals on YT and there all bangers in there own way .Some thing to remember there not just one fixed style and there are the covers they do as well for fun classic metal rock ETC there so talented they spend little time learning them before doing a take . Bands to look at are Hanabie Start with WE Love Sweats .Serious vocals and Try Mary's Blood (marionette) Saki's other kick ass band Yes she plays in the two main bands along with numerous other artists.

it is an EQ or filter to change her voice somewhat on this recording. Compare it to the live recordings. Her voice has much more "body" and punch live. Personally I hope they didn't do this again on the upcoming album since I feel like it sucks some of the power out of Mayu's voice. To me, her screams sound quite a bit more impressive in some of the live recordings.
@robertturner8040
@robertturner8040 2 жыл бұрын
@@NewAeonWarlord Its not a filter to change her voice when your mixing a studio recording you make it even compress the high end to clean it up take out wayward distortion basically get it as good as you can studio and live are two different enteritis the album is a studio album recorded in Japan mixed and mastered in Europe by Jens Bogren Fascination Street Studios Opeth, Sepultura, Dimmu Borgir, Amon Amarth, Kreator, Arch Enemy, Dir En Grey, Marty Friedman, Devin Townsend) ...

@@robertturner8040 yea, but this actually has MORE distortion than she normally has and lacks all the low-end in the voice to my ears. it just doesn't sound very natural as opposed to some of their other recordings (EVEN studio ones).

More Rock/Hard-Rock less Metal (even if it's less true with time and newer stuff) you can check BAND-MAID. NEMOPHILA is my best discover of this year, BAND-MAID is my best discover of this last decades! (One or two). There are also DOLL$BOXX, Unlucky Morpheus on the Metal side, and more Punkish/Hard-Rock there is also TRiDENT. But BAND-MAID nailed all of this bands for now (from my point of view at least ^^) Enjoy your journey on the japan rock/metal scene if you continue to do it ^^ Take care.

Ok, now that you have scratched the surface of J-metal, time to drop the bomb. Japan has had an active all-girl metal scene since at least 1981. This is a starter list of all-female (or in eight cases, mixed gender) metal, punk, hard-rock and post-rock bands, with founding dates where I know them. It's alphabetical, except for the first three, which are at the top of the list for historical reasons. They set the table for the explosion of Japanese female hard-rock, punk and metal bands. Note: I have tried to pick clips that are reactor-friendly because they are high quality and are representative of the band's style. You are likely to get suggestions mainly for Band-Maid, Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheus and Wagakki Band. You can’t go wrong with any of those, but I hope you will find time to check out more of the bands on this list. They are all worth the time and deserve the love, and many will really surprise you. My personal favorites include Asterism, Bridear, Doll$Boxx, existTtrace, Hanabie, Mary’s Blood, Sokoninaru and Tricot. Ok, the list: Show-Ya (1981 The original female J-metal band, founded before Metallica-this is from their 24th (!) anniversary concert-and they are still touring) They belong in any rock or music hall of fame: “I am the Storm” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pbCPaKqnmNyqmoU.html Shonen Knife (1981 The world’s first bubblegum punk band. I don't mind the filter on her screams here as I feel it fits the song. Her normal screams are a bit lower but have tons more punch, and still much higher than the screams we have been getting lately...no offense to ladies like Tatiana and Courtney as I love them as well, but diversity is the spice of life after all.

Be careful. You look like you're getting ready to climb down this rabbit hole. A few suggestions... Hanabie - We Love Sweets... Taking sex off the table, this will be the best 2:38 seconds of your day Unlucky Morpheus - Black Pentagram... Can we get some more violin in metal please Nemophila - Raitei... For some reason, after the last 20 seconds play, my fingers hit the repeat button Lovebites - Winds of Transylvania... You said you've been watchin anime lately. This is the opening of the anime Vlad Love Release Hallucination - Deus Ex Machina... List themselves as a progressive metal project. The have no MVs, just the music with album cover. Might not make a good reaction, but it will sound great blaring in your car Maximum The Hormone - Yoshu Fukush... Just because it's fuxxing MTH Mary's Blood - Marionette One of Saki's many projects/bands. (One of the guitarist fron Nemophila) By no means a complete list but it will get you started

@@rockdariff Band-Maid is pretty epic, and in a category of their own. They are more toward the hard rock and prog rock side. They they don't have screaming vocals, but Saiki does have a more rockish vocal style than a lot of Japanese bands. They do skirt the line with metal occasionally. Similar to many of the Japanese bands, most of the instrumentalists (except for band leader Miku, who does rhythm guitar, and co-lead/backup vocals) are straight up virtuosos. Their bassist, drummer, and lead guitarist are among Japan's very best. Now, when I say Miku is not a virtuoso like the others, she is still very much worthy of note as a guitarist. When they first formed, she could not play guitar, and would just mime playing on stage, for appearances, and her vocals were straight j-pop. She has since learned to play guitar (taught by lead guitarist Kanami), and they say she is almost ready to start sharing leads with Kanami. And her vocals have taken on more edge, so she has come a long way as both a singer and a guitarist since the early days.

You might enjoy MergingMoon if you're interested in checking out a Japanese band that's more comparable to Jinjer. Probably more than any other Japanese band anyway. They formed in 2010, so right around the same time as Jinjer. Their vocalist Yu (aka U) is ridiculous. In the best way, like Tatiana is ridiculous. Here's the link to MergingMoon - Greyen, live (official) in 2012. I'm really curious to see your reaction to hearing them for the first time, so I hope you do it. You obviously have not really listened to Jinjer as they are well known for their genre blending of Reggae, Jazz and Basanova to name a few. No hate on Nemo Jinjer and Nemo are my 2 favorite bands.
@AngelLWJ
@AngelLWJ 2 жыл бұрын
@@tackle47 I know jinjer very well, I mean jinjer is based on metalcore with many other different elements, like you said reggae and jazz, but nemophila is not like this, they play completely different genres, in this song what you hear is metalcore, the next song may be completely hard rock, and the next song may become folk songs or punk. Just like their cover, there are also many kinds of music of completely different genres. I don’t think nemo is better than jinjer, I just want to express that they are totally different types of bands
@garykeeling2275

@@AngelLWJ I see where you're coming from. Both bands do a mix of different genres, but Jinjer tends to mix them in the same song, often with different instrumentalists playing different styles, but meshing them well, whereas Nemophila will usually stick to a single genre with any given song (Hypnosis may be an exception to that rule, blending metalcore and Middle Eastern, similar to what Babymetal did with "Shanti, Shanti, Shanti" and Indian music), but hit up several different genres throughout their discography.
