Thank you all so so much for 1000 Subscribers! Every single one of you is incredible and appreciated. I decided to hold this reaction back for a special time and figured that 1000 Subscribers was the perfect goal to try to reach to release this MAGIC.
SORRY FOR ALL THE PAUSES and freakout moments... but this was unbelievable to me and I couldn't focus on everything. I'll do better next time!
Please let me know if there is more that you want me to react to from Dimash! I cant wait to see what else he has!

Dude I have watched over 1000 reactions to Dimash. I know, I’ve got a problem, but forget that - This is now the best reaction I have ever seen to Dimash. You are super observant and appreciate many things that others do not. Do not watch Dimash without us! Opera 2. Diva Dance Bastau. Ogni Pietra Fancam. Sinful Passions.

So I went into a store yesterday, it was in a mall called The Source OC and we were on our way out when this video of him started playing. At first I thought he was a woman because of that range, but I quickly realized he wasn't. As he gets to the first powerful note he hits, everyone starts to pay more attention to the TV. Then it hits. The employees, the shoppers, the children, the people outside, everyone stops and watches. I stood there the entire time in utter silence. That last freaking powerful hook though, I cried. I *cried* holy shit and now I'm obsessed with him lmao

I incorrectly judged you Metalhead. I assumed your reaction would be full of 'rad', 'awesome' and 'dude'. You are an intelligent man who knows music, vocals and imagery (few reactors comment on the lighting). You are not afraid show show the emotions this performance evoked or admit to goosebumps. You impressed me with this reaction. Thank you for the sincerity. I enjoyed watching your reaction as much as I enjoy watching Dimash. Well done and keep it up!

The best way to describe Dimash range isnt in octaves but rather like this : he could sing at any of the big opera houses and they would be thrilled to have him there, he could sing at any big stage concert and always draw you in, he could play any instrument in a regular band and go to a skate park or hood and rap. And oh btw he dances too. I wanna suggest 2 performances that doesnt get mentioned enough from him "Screaming IDOL hits" and "Love is like a dream".

@@floweroflife0306 Actually, probably once in a few centuries. The only comparison that came to mind when I first heard Dimash was to the Italian opera singer Farinelli (1705-1782). From what has been said about Farinelli 's singing, it matches Dimash abilities to a tee (the light arias, the melismas, the perfect pitch, the range, the emotions, the breath control). Women swooned and men wept when listening to Farinelli. Not only that, searching for more information on Farinalli's life, the similarities started getting a bit spooky. They are both tall men with large feet (have you seen Dimash's planks?), trained from childhood, from socialite families, both with good character, showing humility and kindness towards others. As far as Farinelli being a castrato, the judges are out that he may never have been castrated at all. Farinalli spoke several languages fluently, was an accomplished clavecin and viola player, .Dimash speaks several languages and plays the piano and the dombra... there are other similarities as well. If I was sorry about never being able to hear Farinelli sing when I first learned about him years ago, I now think that this one of a kind singing talent has finally come back to enchant us all.

The sliding on the floor was just flipping hysterical, and the “oh no” got me foghorn laughing so loudly I scared my wife and cats. Worth it. Dimash has been in music training most of his life. First performance was when he was 5. His parents found out he has perfect pitch. Add on his workhorse ethic, powerful support from musician parents (mom is a soprano), genius arranger Erlan Bekchurin, top-class composers like Igor Krutoy who love him and you hv the recipe for a vocal beast who has chances to display the full capability of his vocals. He has degrees in Classical and Pop Vocal and he is now doing his Masters in Composing. He was offered a position with Astana Opera, third largest opera house in the world but he turned it down because he wanted to explore other genres of music.

Dimash is not equal to any other human beign. He is the only one. His absolutely perfect body comes equipped with auto tuning device, extra lungs, beautiful face, incredible charisma and more than 6 octaves angelic voice. Dimash is devilishly perfect. He's just unfairly perfect. His voice makes people experience the lyrics. He engages all your senses, not just the rumor. Dimash sucks you in with his voice and his scene presence. He makes you feel the words and the music with your skin. You forget to breathe while he sings. He just blows your mind and empties your head. You obey him and his voice. He crush, smash and Dimash every song. He picks a song, execute it, does it in his own Dimash's way and it becomes the most beautiful thing you've ever heard. It's hard to listen any other music after Dimash. Your brain unconsciously looks for his voice and his unique style. It seems he tunes your brain and your hearing only to his voice and then you refuse to settle for less than his perfection.

By now you know he's Kazakh. His first languages are Kazakh and Russian. He sings in about 20 languages so far. He tries to sing a song in the language of any country where he gives a concert. You've just watched Dimash sing his first song song in the Chinese "Singer" series in which he was completely unknown. The following morning his father went to his hotel room and said, Your life has changed. Guess how many hits you've had on Chinese Instagram? Try 600 Million!" Dimash said, "What are those guards doing at the door?" His father said, "Wait until you go down stairs." He needed security for the rest of the show. There is a very special song in China called "Jasmine" it is considered a great honour for anyone to be asked to sing it. To celebrate Chinese New Year Dimash has performed it for the last 3 years on the trot. For a foreigner to be asked to do this is unheard of. His performances are on utube and they are Spectacular. He is now a Megastar in China also Russia and has millions of fans (Dears) around the world. His "Live" concerts like his Barclays Center New York 19,000 sold-out are incredible. It's only a matter of time before he becomes a Megastar in the USA. It is rumoured that he will be asked to sing the song "Olimpico" at the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics. It's a song Specially written for him in an Operatic style that is so difficult that no Opera Singer in the World could sing it. Enjoy watching the greatest singer/performer of all time. 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍

Phil Harris yep, the night before this performance he was strolling on the streets with no one bothered to cast him a second look. The morning following this performance he needed two beefy security personnel ushering him everywhere to shield him from screaming fans. 😂 oh by the way, it was not his father who spoke to him in his hotel room as his father was still in Kazakhstan during then, he only flew in to China a week later to watch his opera 2 performance. It was Dimash’s Chinese agent who told him about the 600 millions views on Weibo (Chinese Instagram).

Just a minor correction. I wasn't his father who went to his room after his first appearance. Dad didn't show up until his second appearance where he sang Opera 2. He surprised him. It was his sponsor who informed him that he was going to need security and he was a big hit.

That small smile was relief. Check out Gloria Wu's vid of this performance - it includes Eng subs and a short backstory. Dimash was the underdog = and the producers tried to convince him this was a terrible song choice for the Chinese audience - a slowish song in French?!. He politely dug in his heels. ( I also watched the entire first episode) For this first performance of the competition the producers hear the rehearsals and put the singers in reverse order of who they think will do best with the audience - that way they end on the highest note with the strongest performer. They had so little faith in Dimash they put him first (as the weakest performance). I cannot fathom the amount of pressure Dimash must have felt - a stranger in a land where he doesn't speak the language, knowing the show producers thought he was making a terrible choice of song, and put on first. So yeah - that was a smile of relief :)
@justwantthebestvoice4492

The order of appearance for episode 1 was not determined by the producer but the audience. None of the members of the audience had heard him sing, not even rehearsal. They chose the order according to their favourites, the most anticipated singer would be the last to sing and Dimash as an unknown was the least anticipated and was voted to be the first to sing. The results were sealed in envelopes and opened by the artistes themselves during the show premiere. When Dimash opened the envelope and realised that he was the first to sing he was very disappointed and sad. His music partner Alai even said that Dimash was unhappy with the order of appearance. The order of appearance for subsequent episodes have another set of rules which I won’t be elaborating here. But the order in episode 1 is definitely determined by the audience (according to their anticipation) and not the producer.

Also the arrangements of this version of SOS was done by a Chinese, not Erlan nor Dimash. When his Chinese crew showed him the new arrangement and asked him for his opinion, Dimash replied ‘it has lost it’s original style’. What did he mean? If you hv heard Dimash’s SOS before the singer show, you will know he had always sung it much closer to the original version without those insane high notes, and he felt uncomfortable with the new arrangement. Upon hearing this, his Chinese boss turned to his interpreter and said ‘he (Dimash) doesn’t understand how this competition works. If you did not manage to make the audience excited, if they sit quietly listening to you and not leap to their feat with thunder applause, you won’t get their votes’. From the conversation, it seems like Dimash preferred closer to the original whereas his Chinese team wanted a more dramatic arrangement to wow the audience. Dimash was in dilemma for a while but I guess he finally adopted the idea of his Chinese crew. I’m not sure why everyone mistaken that it was the other way round that his Chinese crew wanted him to sing a mellower version but he stubbornly went his own way of adding all the high notes. Nope, it was the opposite. Anyway if it was Dimash’s idea his name will appear as the music arranger, and not a Chinese name. This Chinese person helped to arrange SOS and opera 2, and Erlan took over from episode 3, the show must go on, onwards.

Hi! It's been a year now so I'm sure you probably know this now (but if not), Dimash is from Kazakhstan, a very large and predominantly Muslim country south of Russia, but which is (I think) the Central Asian region. I actually went to Kazakhstan in January 2018 and that's where I first heard of Dimash. A history student in Kazakhstan told me that Kazakh people originally came from Turkey. However, the region that's now Kazakhstan was also invaded by the Mongols, so a person from Kazakhstan might be blonde haired and blue eyed, or look Asian, like Dimash does, or some mix of both. Kazakh and Russian are the official languages of Kazakhstan and like most folks in Kazakhstan, Dimash is fluent in both. But he sings in many languages because...... He's Dimash! His French isn't perfect (I don't care. Mine is terrible), but who can notice such trivial things when listening to Dimash? That clip was from a mainland China singing competition and I've read Dimash was the first performance that night and he finished as runner up.

Not sure if you're religious and I hope I don't offend you if you aren't.. but Dimash really gets me closer to God. Hello 9. Unforgettable Day (Singer) 10. Unforgettable Day (Gakku concert and famous for being the song where Dimash hits the highest note ever) 12. Daybreak (Bastau concert) 13. Mademoiselle Hyde 14. Love of Tired Swans 15. Ogni Pietra (so good!) 17. Passione (one of my bloody favorites) 18. Know (New Wave 2019) 19. Know (VTB Arena) 20. Love is Like a Dream 21. Ti Amo Cosi (VTB Arena... the song ill probably play during my first dance with my wife at the wedding) 22. Ulysee (VTB Arena with gorgeous opera singer Aida Garifulina) 23. Your Love 24. Across Endless Dimensions (soundtrack of an italian movie) 25. We Are One (tribute to the world because of the bloody pandemic) wow.. that's a whole freakin lot, but maybe it gives you a roadmap of how many of us who enjoy his art learned to appreciate it. Thanks and God bless you, man. All good wishes on your channel.

Dimash is everything. Bass, baritone, tenor, counter tenor, soprano, alto soprano, mezzo soprano........he's also powerful in ALL areas. He can sing multiple genres and multiple octaves within a song. He can easily sing a 5-6 octaves song live....and yet can skip along.....his Ogni Pietra/Olympico (Italian) and Sinful Passion (Russian)....both are multiple octaves songs.

@subidubiduda5293

Ah, Dimash. I call him the perfect storm because what else. He is obviously massively talented but he had the luck of coming from a musical family (mother an opera singer, father pop, grandfather master of dombra, a Kazakh instrument you will see Di play too if you continue) so once they noticed his talent they started him off with lessons at age 5. So now at 25 you have the result of immense talent combined with immense training. He has two degrees, and is working on a masters in composition. He also plays the piano and some other instruments. I guess he was born for music. But also a very intelligent and overall educated young man who is very, very kind and humble. Btw this song, SOS, is particular for Dimash. It is not just that it launched him into fame, it is that it was used by his good friend, Olympic bronze medalist figure skater Kazakh Denis Ten for one of his programs. Then, in a tragic robbery gone wrong, Denis was killed and SOS subsequently changed. It is not easy for Dimash to sing it any longer and this is very visible in some instances but it also gained a greater depth I would say. Anyway, great reaction, thank you so much. You will see that after this he continued to improve and this here is basically just the tip of the ice berg. His control, his flexibility, his playing with styles in one song and musical storytelling are truly unmatched today. I only ever saw this with Freddie before and hopefully Dimash will one day hit those heights with the quality of his material too.

Matthew, great reaction! I think you have captured every emotion all of us ever felt when discovering Dimash! (Dee-MOSH) To learn about him, his fan base has put together a very detailed Wikipedia page. He had sung SOS a thousand times, both at international competitions (he won every single one of them) and then in a 25-city solo tour throughout Kazahkstan and in bordering cities. He had just completed the tour and was invited to compete in the 2017 "I Am Singer" Chinese TV show, so he was utterly prepared and stage-comfortable...aside from being in a new country with a foreign language, and by himself! Every competitor on the show is, by definition, a well-established Chinese recording artist, and the entire audience are music industry people, and they all vote. He was the first ever non-Chinese competitor, as well as the youngest (21) to ever compete, and he took second place. Many felt that he won, but it was unseemly for him to upstage the truly excellent older competitor who took first place, so ... yeah. Dimash has a voice that comes along once in 500 years (range and beauty), his technical excellence is peerless, he is an intuitively theatrical performer, he is a master of onstage emotional intimacy with his audience, and he is a genuine mensch (good guy): humble, kind, thoughtful, appreciative to the extreme, loves his tight-knit family who travel with him, diplomatic, wise, tenaciously stubborn, and driven by genuine love for his "dears". What would you like to listen to next? Would you like to take the songs in historical order? Hear his "Michael Jackson" /pop side? Listen to something more operatic? Hear the latest? Hear something super emotional? Hear something with insane vocal fireworks? (You thought this was insane, but he has grown tremendously in 3 years!) BTW, his range, as far as we have heard, is from an A1 in fry, or a solid C2 (no fry) to a D8 (multiple times, with vibrato). He doesn't like people to focus on his range, but he has the highest mixed-voice belt I've ever on a guy, and that marvelous head voice that defies naming. (A lot of coaches mistakenly call it whistle register, but for him, it's a clear, open note, in the pitch range which most singers can only access in whistle tones; coaches are having to invent new terminology for him, but most are too lazy and just call it whistle tones...arghh!) *Tell me what you'd like to listen to next*, or for fun, dive right in , for your own enjoyment, and listen to his first American concert in NYC from December 2019. It's on his channel in two parts: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7GWZt1nm7fNeZ8.html I think you'll come away with more than just amazement and appreciation, you'll also love him for the amazing human being he is, which makes the music all the more enjoyable!

And the Kazakh man Aray Aidargan who introduced Dimash to the audience in perfect Mandarin in episode1, Singer 2017.....Aray is a Kazakh singer who's very fluent in Mandarin and acted as Dimash's interpreter before Dimash got his present interpreter.

And he was not the first non Chinese competitor......only in this season. In previous season....Singer 2014.....Shila Amzah, a Malay girl from Malaysia was invited too. Dimash was the only non Chinese in Singer 2017. And Dimash was 22 years old in 2017.....not 21years old. Many Chinese celebrities celebrated Dimash's 23rd birthday with him on May 24th, 2017.....many videos on KZfaq showing it.

@@dearlydears5301 Is there anything else? LOL! I stand corrected (happily) about the 2014 Singer season and his age. The other two corrections are matters of interpretation: Dimash did have Alpamys, but his family members have stated in public interviews how alone he felt without them, and how his dad encouraged him by phone while he was in China alone, since it was unusual for them not to travel with him. The reason this is important is that it will set the stage for what Matthew will see when he gets to that "family moment" we all adore. (I'm being deliberately vague for Matthew's sake.) Thank you for your input...learning as I go. :-)

@@BoostdReviews I think if you have good hearing, or perfect hearing as someone like him who's been trained all life in this, it's easier to sing in any language, even if you don't know the meaning behind what you're singing. Of course, without understanding, you can't do correct emotional contribution to it, either. I'm not saying that's what's going on here, I'm just saying that, if you're an excellent singer, you can sing copetently in any language because frequencies and harmonies are universal, words can be extrapolated. It's understanding that brings meaning and emotion. He's from Kazakhstan, singing in French in a Chinese show. Some French speakers have pointed out some minor flaws in French pronunciation, but no one can bear to complain to this performance which was flawless in every other aspect. He's sang this song for a very very long time before this show and it ... shows.

I simply had to respond to this reaction of yours. As Mr. Johnson, below, says. This is the best reaction and review I have ever seen of SOS by Dimash, and I have listened to them all. Although I have listened to the original, many times, I did what you suggested and listened to it again before watching your reaction, and I am so glad I did. You covered everything from voice production, performance, and lighting, and I now appreciate everything so much more now. Thank you, thank you, thank you. By the way, if you want to react, or simply listen yourself to another incredible singer from China who sings in about 7 languages. His name is Charlie Zhou Shen. He was also on Singer 2020 (as was Dimash in 2017), His versitility is amazing, and his voice is so sweet--People made fun of him because his voice never broke, so he ended up in the Ukraine studying dentistry, until one professor heard him sing and recommended he change his major. He did, to Bel Canto, but he can sing anything. His was the voice sound track to Big Fish, and animated movie. Although my allegiance to Dimash will never falter, I believe Zhou Shen is also amazing, Just listen to My Heart Will Go On, or Time to Say Goodbye. I really enjoyed watching your reaction to Dimash you were very funny and at the same time very observant I really appreciate how you were able to pick up on the emotinal part of the perfomace as well Dimash is a freak of nature in a way and most people react to his insane ability to go from the highest notes down to the lowest and everything in between and do this with utmost perfection but besides this his ability to convey emotion is also increadible This song was written by a french singer who is dying of an incurable illness and was struggling to understand the meaning of life so a very sad and heavy emotional song of a very broken man I think Dimash really conveyed that brokenness so very vell

I'm an alt/pop/rock singer/songwriter so in the biz like you... and I THOUGHT I knew music before Dimash. My reaction was like yours. I have NEVER cried to a song in my life... yet it hits me every time, and I've listened to it maybe 100 times now. He perfected singing.

Hey dude, if Ginger can hold her breath and sing for 11 seconds without taking a breath, then you really need to see what Dimash is capable of. He will blow your mind millions of miles away into space with his abilities. 😄😄😄 I can't wait.

There is a song from a s-f film 'Creators: The Past'. Piergiuseppe Zaia (film director and musician) and Eleonora Fani (screenwriter and singer) talk about Dimash's voice. 'I will end with this gem that is called Dimash Kudaibergen.' (..) "This 25 years old young man from Kazakhstan, is for me the most beautiful voice in the world, even though I am someone that collaborated with so many grand musicians, with many singers.'
